The Original Bushman SC35-52 is the extendable version of Bushman's 25-year-old chest fridge freezer. Same footprint as the SC35 at 690mm long by 385mm wide, but supplied with the extension kit so you can run it in four different heights: 380mm as a 35L, 465mm as a 45L, 475mm as a 42L, or 545mm as a 52L. Swap the lid and add or remove the extension collar to change capacity.
It runs a genuine Secop Danfoss variable-speed compressor drawing between 2A and 4.5A. Power consumption averages around 0.67 Ah/hr at 4°C fridge set in a 25°C ambient in the 52L configuration. Set temperature range is -18°C to +10°C, so it runs as a fridge, a freezer, or a combination depending on how you set it up.
Cabinet is marine-grade electroplated metal with 4 heavy duty tie-down brackets included, an HD Anderson lead and a cigarette plug adapter. A 240V to 12V mains transformer is supplied so the fridge can run off mains power as well as 12V or 24V DC.
If you never need more than 35 litres, the fixed-capacity SC35 is the cheaper starting point. This model is worth the difference if you want flexibility — use the 35L for cans and drinks on a short trip, extend to 52L for a big shop before a two-week trip out west.
