12V & 24V Automotive Relays in Perth

A dash switch is rated to a few amps of switching current — try to run a 20A spotlight bar or a 30A compressor straight through it and the switch either welds or catches fire. A relay uses a small trigger current from the switch to close a big set of contacts that handle the load. Every high-current accessory on your 4WD has a relay behind it, or should.

Britax mini relays (4-pin normally-open or 5-pin change-over) at 40A cover most spotlight, horn and accessory jobs. Micro relays (25-35A) suit tighter spaces and OEM loom integration. Heavy-duty mini at 80A handles compressors and winches. Above 100A continuous — winches, high-current inverters — you want a proper Ametek solenoid rather than a relay.

Britax is the touring workshop default — sealed, resistor-protected, widely stocked, cheap to replace. Redarc's TIM05/TIM06 multi-function timer covers delay-off jobs (interior lights, awning lights). The Redarc 12/24V 10A chopper relay is a latching switch replacement. OEX and Bosch cover the OEM-style micro relays and flasher relays for indicator work.

Every relay we sell comes with a matching base — either terminal-in-hand for a proper crimped loom, or a socket for the OEM-style plug. The bases with terminals suit a workshop building looms; the Britax bulkhead bases suit mounting to a bracket in the engine bay or fuse box.
