PORTABLE SOLAR BLANKET SPECIALISTS

Solar Blankets in Perth — KT, Amptron & Elevate 200W

Fold-up portable solar for the remote camp — park in the shade, put the blanket in the sun. We stock 200W KT Cable, Amptron folding PERC-shingled, and our own Elevate 200W 50V blanket, all with regulator and Anderson lead ready to go.

WHY A BLANKET, NOT JUST FIXED SOLAR

Fixed solar on the roof works only when the vehicle is parked in the sun — and in Australian summer, the last place you want to park is in the sun. A solar blanket lets you sit under a shady tree at camp and drag 200-400W of solar into full sun on a 5-10 metre lead. It's the single biggest jump in usable solar most touring setups will ever make.

SIZING AND VOLTAGE

A 200W blanket is the common size — enough to keep a 100-200 Ah fridge-and-lights bank topped up in most camps. For heavier loads, run two blankets in parallel. Higher-voltage blankets (like the Elevate 50V) suit larger lithium banks and MPPT controllers rated for higher input voltages. Match the blanket's Voc to your [MPPT](/collections/solar-controllers) input range.

KT, AMPTRON AND ELEVATE

KT Cable's 200W blanket is the workshop go-to for the budget-conscious build — proven, tough, and priced right. Amptron's 200W folding PERC-shingled blanket is the step up in efficiency and low-light performance. Our own Elevate 200W 50V blanket is built for lithium canopy builds where the higher voltage keeps cable losses down over long runs.

DIRECT-TO-BATTERY OR VIA MPPT

Most blankets ship with a built-in PWM regulator, which is fine for a quick top-up. For serious daily use, bypass the built-in reg and run the raw panel output into a proper [Victron MPPT](/collections/solar-controllers) at the battery — you'll get 20-30% more real amp-hours out of the same panel. Especially worth it on lithium banks that want a proper LiFePO4 charge profile.

FITTED AT OUR BAYSWATER WORKSHOP

We spec blankets, extension leads, MPPT controllers and Anderson-plug loom setups every week at 1/6 Radius Loop, Bayswater. Bring in your battery, tell us your camping loads, and we'll size the whole solar setup — blanket plus fixed — to keep your bank charged wherever you park.
FAQS

Solar Blankets in Perth — KT, Amptron & Elevate 200W

Common questions about solar blankets, answered by our Perth auto electricians.

Rough rule: 100W of solar per 100Ah of battery keeps a fridge and lights topped up in summer. A single 200W blanket suits most touring rigs with a 100–200Ah auxiliary. If you're running an inverter for a coffee machine or induction cooktop, step up to 300–400W.
Blankets let you park in shade and put the panel in the sun — huge in Australian summer. Fixed roof panels are lower effort and never get left behind. Most serious tourers run both: a fixed panel for driving days, a blanket for camp.
Yes — all our blankets ship with an integrated solar regulator, Anderson lead and carry bag ready to plug straight into your Anderson-plug solar input. If you're feeding a Redarc BCDC or Victron MPPT, you can bypass the regulator and use the controller's tracking for slightly better yield.
Yes for short periods — the blankets are IP-rated for weather. That said, they're not designed to live outside permanently. Fold and store when you break camp and they'll last many years; leave them baking on the ground and the fabric backing eventually gives up.
Yes. Choose pickup at checkout and we'll call when your order is ready (usually 1–3 days). Please wait for our confirmation before driving down; we don't stock every SKU on the shelf. Address: 1/6 Radius Loop, Bayswater WA 6053. Open Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm.
Domestic delivery within Australia is typically 2–8 business days depending on carrier and destination. International orders vary 2–30+ business days by country. We don't ship to PO boxes as most couriers don't deliver to them.
