Bush Company Rooftop Tents in Perth

The Bush Company hardshell and clamshell rooftop tent range — TX27 MAX, TX27, AX27 and LX27 Gen2. Australian-designed, built for corrugations and Perth summers, sold and fitted at our Bayswater workshop.

HARDSHELL OR CLAMSHELL

Hardshell tents (TX27 and TX27 MAX) open like a pop-top — hydraulic struts, 30 seconds up, 30 seconds down. Clamshell tents (AX27 and LX27) open like a book — bigger internal floor for the same closed size, roughly a minute to open. Both stay drier than fold-out tents and cop corrugation better.

TX27 AND TX27 MAX

The TX27 is the workshop favourite — hardshell, king-size mattress, integrated LED strip, USB outlets and 360-degree walls with mesh screens. The TX27 MAX adds internal height, upgraded mattress and second-skin insulation for cold-weather touring. Both weigh in around 70kg on-vehicle.

AX27 CLAMSHELL AND LX27 LIGHTWEIGHT

The AX27 is the mid-range clamshell — bigger interior than the TX27 for the same footprint, at a lower price. The LX27 Gen2 is the lightweight version at around 55kg — best for smaller wagons, softer roof racks, or a Prado that doesn't want another 70kg up top.

MATCH IT TO YOUR ROOF RACK

Every Bush Company tent needs a load-rated roof rack — most factory bars are only rated to 75kg dynamic, which is fine for the tent alone but not for a tent plus awning plus solar panel. See /collections/roof-conversions for full Headspace roof conversions on the LC76/78, HiAce and D90/110.

FITTED AT OUR PERTH WORKSHOP

We fit Bush Company tents at our Bayswater workshop with proper bolt-through hardware, load-checked to your rack rating. Add an awning, LED strip lighting off the tent and a 12V power feed for the fan and USB outlets at the same time. Book the fit and we'll spec the whole rooftop setup.

Yes, in almost all cases. The TX27, AX27 and LX27 mount to standard heavy-duty roof platforms and cross bars — check the rack's weight rating (static and dynamic) covers the tent plus you and your gear inside.
The TX27 and AX27 sleep two adults comfortably on a memory-foam mattress. The larger TX27 MAX and LX27 Gen2 give more elbow room, but still built as two-person tents — not family-sized.
Yes. Bush Company tents are Australian-designed with high-strength shells, UV-rated fabric and reinforced mounts sized for the Gibb, the Canning and the run home along the Great Northern. Nothing about a Perth summer is outside their design brief.
