Isuzu D-MAX RC 4JJ1 Upgraded Alternator Kit (BKS-240DMAX)

Elevate Automotive

BOLTS INTO THE FACTORY LOCATION

161mm mount spacing, 55mm leg ID and a 17mm shaft, all matching the original, so no brackets or spacers

217A HOT, NOT JUST COLD

The honest working figure at 13.5V once up to temperature, rather than the cold bench rating alone

240A REPLACES 130A

Close to double the factory output, so a loaded touring system is no longer sitting at capacity.

250A FUSED HARNESS INCLUDED

Cable sized to carry the full output, so it reaches the battery instead of heating up undersized factory wire

TALKS TO THE ECU

Internal LIN regulator communicates exactly as the factory alternator does, with no ECU changes or resistor tricks

Upgrade your Isuzu D-MAX RC 4JJ1 charging system with the BKS-240DMAX Upgraded Alternator Kit, built to deliver far more charging capacity for vehicles running demanding electrical accessories. Whether you are powering a dual battery setup, off-road lighting, a winch, an air compressor, a fridge or touring equipment, this high-output kit provides the headroom the factory alternator does not have.

The alternator puts out 240A cold and around 217A hot, through a 7PV fixed pulley on a 17mm shaft, with an internal LIN regulator so it talks to the vehicle the way the factory unit does. It is a direct replacement in the original mounting location.

The harness matters as much as the alternator. Factory cabling was never sized to carry 240A, and reusing it is the most common reason an upgraded alternator does not deliver what it is rated for. The kit includes upgraded cable with the lugs already labelled, plus a 250A mega fuse and holder on a bracket, so the extra output actually reaches the battery instead of being lost as heat in undersized wire.

Check your engine before ordering. This kit is for the 4JJ1. If you have the later RG D-MAX with the 4JJ3-TCX engine, we build the same kit for it:

Everything this install needs

0 of 0 in the box
  • A direct replacement for the factory alternator, using the original mounting location.
  • The fuse bracket is designed to use the factory mounting hardware, so no extra bolts are supplied and none are needed. Retain the original hardware when you strip it down.
  • Disconnect the battery terminals before starting work.
  • Check belt condition and tension while the alternator is out. It is the easiest time to do it.
  • Confirm charging voltage once everything is back together.
  • If a lithium auxiliary battery is being charged from this alternator, a DC-DC charger or battery management system is still required between the two.
Isuzu D-MAX RC
Engine: 4JJ1 3.0L Turbo Diesel
If you have the later RG D-MAX with the 4JJ3-TCX engine, we build the same kit for it - see the Isuzu D-MAX RG 4JJ3 240A Upgraded Alternator Kit.

Q: Will this fit my D-MAX?
A: This kit is for the Isuzu D-MAX RC fitted with the 4JJ1 3.0L turbo diesel. If you have the later RG D-MAX with the 4JJ3-TCX engine, we build the same kit for it - look for the Isuzu D-MAX RG 4JJ3 240A Upgraded Alternator Kit.

Q: Why upgrade to a 240A alternator?
A: A higher output alternator gives you charging headroom for dual batteries, winches, lighting, fridges, compressors and other high draw accessories, so the system is not sitting at capacity every time you use it.

Q: Can it charge lithium batteries?
A: Not on its own. An alternator is a charging source, not a charger. You still need a DC-DC charger or a battery management system between the alternator and a lithium bank.

Q: Will this improve battery charging times?
A: Yes. The extra amperage means more current is available to the auxiliary bank, which shortens charging times, particularly when several accessories are running at once.

Q: What should I check during installation?
A: Disconnect the battery terminals before starting, check belt condition and tension while the alternator is out, and confirm charging voltage once it is back together.

Q: What warranty does it carry?
A: 2 years or 25,000km, whichever comes first, covering defects in materials or workmanship.
