Built rugged for off-road travel and off-grid builds, this inverter combines high surge capacity, quiet operation and advanced safety features. The RS3 includes an automatic transfer switch (ATS), and assists with AS/NZS 3001 compliance thanks to an integrated Residual Current Device (RCD).

Housed in a vibration-resistant aluminium shell, it is made for long road trips, remote setups and vanlife alike, with REDARC reliability and support behind it.

Q: What can a 3000W inverter actually run?
A: High-draw equipment such as air conditioners, microwaves, toasters and coffee machines, or several smaller appliances at once. The 6000W surge rating covers the start-up spike from motors and compressors.

Q: How is the RS3 different from the older RS 3000W?
A: The RS3 adds an Automatic Transfer Switch and an in-built RCD, and uses plug-in IEC connections instead of a hardwire plate. It is a physically different unit as well, at 10.3kg against 8.2kg.

Q: Can I leave it connected when I plug in at a caravan park?
A: Yes. The Automatic Transfer Switch moves between mains and battery on its own, so you are not swapping leads or draining the battery when shore power is available.

Q: What does the in-built RCD do?
A: It acts as a circuit breaker on the 240V output, cutting power if it detects a fault, and it assists with AS/NZS 3001 compliance in caravan and RV builds.

Q: What battery do I need to run it?
A: At full output a 3000W inverter draws roughly 250A from a 12V battery before conversion losses, so plan on a bank rated to at least 300A continuous discharge. Our Custom Lithium Next Generation 310Ah is rated to 330A continuous, which covers the RS3 at full load. A smaller bank will still run the inverter, but not at full output for long.

Q: Do I need an electrician to install it?
A: No. The RS3 connects on the 240V side with plug-in IEC leads rather than fixed wiring, so a standard installation does not need one. The 12V side still needs correctly sized cable and fusing. Our Perth workshop fits and tests these if you would rather not do it yourself.
