An in-house fabricated stainless steel bracket that mounts a Redarc SBI12 or SBI12D battery isolator in the Toyota LC79 engine bay. Positions the isolator upright on the inner guard so the terminals face into the engine bay and the body sits clear of the loom, the brake booster and hot engine parts. Fits Workmate and GXL LC79s built from 2007 up to the 09/2023 facelift.

The plate is cut and folded from bare stainless steel, 95 by 70 by 50mm overall, with a natural brushed finish and no coating to chip. Mounting is bolt-in to existing engine-bay threads, so no new holes go into the firewall. The isolator itself bolts to the face of the bracket using the hardware that ships with the Redarc unit.

The bracket mounts the isolator only; the SBI12 or SBI12D, the cabling and the fuses are sold separately. Match the fuse rating at both battery ends to the cable size you run between them, and finish the install to the Redarc wiring diagram so the isolator sees the alternator correctly.

Pairs with

  • In-house fabricated — cut and formed at the Elevate Automotive workshop
  • Fits SBI12 and SBI12D — bolt pattern matches both Smart Start variants
  • Bare stainless steel — stands up to engine-bay heat and vibration, no coating to chip
  • Toyota LC79 specific — designed around the factory firewall and inner guard
  • Clean under-bonnet install — keeps the isolator off cable looms and heat sources
  • Bolt-in mounting — uses existing engine-bay threads where available
  • Pairs with GHS kits — matches our Get Home Safe SBI12 install kit
  • 3-year warranty — Elevate house warranty on fabricated brackets

Q: What does a battery isolator actually do? An isolator sits between the starter battery and an auxiliary battery. It lets the alternator charge both while the engine is running, then disconnects the auxiliary battery when the engine stops so your fridge, lights or camp gear can't flatten the starter. The Redarc SBI12 is a solenoid-based isolator; the SBI12D adds dual-sensing so it will also charge from a solar input into the aux side.

Q: What's the difference between the SBI12 and the SBI12D? The SBI12 is engine-sensed only, so it connects the batteries when the alternator starts charging and drops out when it stops. The SBI12D is dual-sensing, meaning it also connects the batteries when a solar charger pushes voltage up on the aux side, so solar can top up both batteries while the vehicle is parked. The two units share the same body footprint, so this bracket fits both.

Q: Does this bracket fit the facelift LC79 built from September 2023? No. This bracket is cut for the pre-facelift LC79 built between 2007 and 09/2023 (Workmate and GXL). The 09/2023+ facelift LC79 reworked the engine bay layout and firewall, so the hole pattern no longer lines up. If you've got the facelift model, send us a message with your build date and we'll let you know what fits.

Q: Does the Redarc SBI12 isolator come with the bracket? No. This listing is the mounting bracket only. The Redarc SBI12 and SBI12D are sold separately, as is our full Get Home Safe install kit which pairs the isolator, the correct fuses and the wiring you need to finish the job.

Q: Do I need to drill into the firewall to fit it? No new holes in the firewall. The bracket is designed to use existing threads in the LC79 engine bay. Factory-fitted brackets or captive nuts give you the mounting points; the SBI12 isolator then bolts to the face of this bracket with the hardware supplied in the Redarc isolator pack.

Q: What hardware do I need to bolt it in? You'll need the two M6 or M8 bolts (depending on vehicle year) that go into the existing engine-bay threads, and the mounting hardware that ships with the Redarc SBI12 to attach the isolator to the bracket. If your vehicle came with the factory threads blocked by paint or primer, a tap through to clean the thread sorts it before install.

Q: Can I use this bracket in an LC70, LC76 or LC78? No. The hole pattern and bracket geometry are shaped around the LC79's specific engine bay. The LC70, LC76 and LC78 each have different firewall layouts, and the SBI12 sits in a different spot on each. We make vehicle-specific brackets for the other 70-series platforms separately, so send us the model and we'll point you to the matching one.

Q: Where does the isolator sit once this bracket's in? The bracket positions the SBI12 upright on the inner guard or firewall, so the terminals face into the engine bay and the body sits clear of hot engine parts, cable looms and the brake booster. That orientation keeps the isolator cool, keeps the wiring tidy, and keeps the terminals accessible if you ever need to pull a cover off and check a connection.

Q: Can I run the SBI12 and a Redarc BCDC in the same build? Yes, but they do different jobs. The SBI12 is a simple solenoid isolator; it connects the starter and aux batteries while the engine is running. A BCDC (DC-DC charger) manages voltage up or down and gives you a dedicated charge profile for lithium or AGM auxiliaries. If you're running a modern auxiliary battery and want it fully charged, pair the SBI12 setup with a BCDC on the aux side rather than relying on the alternator alone.

Q: What's the warranty on the bracket? 12 months against manufacturing defects, covered by Elevate's house warranty on in-house fabricated brackets. The Redarc SBI12 isolator itself carries Redarc's own warranty, which applies regardless of the bracket you mount it on.
