A round panel-mount socket that delivers up to 100W of USB-C Power Delivery straight from a 12V or 24V vehicle system. Runs a laptop off one port and a phone or tablet off the other, sharing the 100W total. Fits caravan dashboards, 4WD centre consoles, boat helms, ute canopy walls and camper cabinet fronts with a 28mm round hole.

An internal step-down converter handles the 12V or 24V input, so a 24V truck feed or a 12V dual-battery feed both work without an external regulator. Standard USB PD negotiation handles device-side voltage automatically (5V, 9V, 12V, 15V or 20V per port). The body is a round barrel with a black threaded collar that clamps against the panel from behind, and a rear pigtail wires straight into a fused accessory circuit.

Fuse the feed at 10A at the source; the internal converter can pull 8 to 10A on 12V when both ports run at full output. Red lead is positive, black is negative; reversed polarity will damage the converter. Keep this one on the battery side of a solar controller or DC-DC (panel-side voltage can spike above 24V and cook the socket), and mount it inside a cabinet or dashboard where the USB openings are protected from spray and dust.

Q: What does USB PD 100W actually mean?
USB Power Delivery is a fast-charge standard where the device and the charger negotiate a higher voltage than the standard 5V (usually 9V, 12V, 15V or 20V). At 100W total, a single port can supply the full 20V at 5A a laptop needs, or split between two ports at lower profiles.

Q: Is the 100W per port or shared between both ports?
Shared. The socket delivers up to 100W total across both ports. Running one port alone gives that port the full 100W. Running both simultaneously means the two devices share the budget.

Q: What size fuse should I use?
Fuse the 12V or 24V feed at 10A at the source. The internal converter can draw up to 8-10A on a 12V feed when both ports are delivering full output; the 24V draw is roughly half.

Q: Can I charge a laptop with this?
Yes. 100W PD covers most USB-C laptops (13 inch MacBooks, most Dell XPS, most ThinkPads). Gaming laptops and 16 inch MacBook Pros need 140W or more, so they will still charge from this socket but slower than a wall charger.

Q: What size hole do I need to cut?
Roughly 28mm round hole. Verify against the physical socket before you cut, since panel-mount collars vary slightly between production runs.

Q: Is it waterproof?
The body and rear pigtail are enclosed but the USB-C port openings are not sealed when unplugged. Mount it inside a cabinet, dashboard or drawer, not on an exterior surface exposed to weather or wash-down.

Q: Does it work in a 24V system straight from the battery?
Yes. The internal step-down converter accepts 12V or 24V DC, so a 24V truck feed, a 24V lithium bank or a 12V dual-battery system all work without an external regulator.

Q: Do I need to worry about polarity?
Yes. Red lead is positive, black is negative. Reverse polarity will damage the internal converter and is not covered by warranty. Double-check with a multimeter before energising.

Q: Can I run it directly from a solar panel or DC-DC?
Run it from the battery side of a solar controller or DC-DC, not the panel side. Solar panel output voltage varies with sun angle and can spike above 24V, which will damage this socket. Battery-side output is regulated and safe.

Q: How much power does it draw at idle when no device is plugged in?
Under 100mA. Negligible for a permanent install with the vehicle off, but wire through an ignition-switched circuit if you want to guarantee zero parasitic draw when parked.
