A 5-metre lead that extends a 50-amp Anderson plug run over 8mm² twin-sheath battery cable. Carries solar-panel feeds, winch power, dual-battery charging or trailer supply from the rear of a 4WD, ute or tow vehicle across to a caravan, camper trailer or camp setup. Rated 12V through to 48V DC so it fits any 4WD, marine or off-grid system running an Anderson plug.

The 8mm² conductors sit inside a dual-sheath outer for abrasion resistance across rough vehicle chassis and tow eyes, terminated at both ends with a 50A Anderson-style plug in a polycarbonate housing. Male and female orientations pair with the standard 50A Anderson colour code so it drops straight into any existing 50A run without an adapter.

Rate the source-side circuit protection for the plug's 50A ceiling, not the cable size alone. Anderson plugs sit exposed to weather when disconnected, so cap the unused end when parked to keep dirt and moisture off the contacts.

  • 50A rated — Anderson plug for high-current runs
  • 8mm² twin — dual-sheath battery cable
  • 12–48V DC — covers 12V, 24V and 48V systems
  • 5-metre reach — extends without a joiner
  • Colour keyed — pairs any 50A Anderson run

Q: What size cable is used in this extension lead?
A: 8mm² twin-sheath battery cable, sized for the 50A Anderson plug it's terminated with.

Q: What does the 50A rating actually mean?
A: 50A is the continuous current the plug and cable are rated to carry. That's enough for typical solar-panel leads, winch extensions and auxiliary battery charging runs. Drawing more than that risks overheating the plug contacts.

Q: What type of plug does it use?
A: A 50A Anderson-style plug at both ends, rated 12–48V DC, in the standard grey polycarbonate housing that mates with any other 50A Anderson connector.

Q: What length is the cable?
A: 5 metres end to end, plug tip to plug tip.

Q: Can I daisy-chain two of these for a longer run?
A: Yes. Two 5-metre leads plug into each other for a 10-metre run. Every join adds a small voltage drop, so keep total run length as short as the install allows for solar and charging feeds.

Q: Will this work on a 24V or 48V system?
A: Yes. The plug and 8mm² cable are rated 12V through to 48V DC, so it fits 12V starter, 24V truck and 48V lithium setups without changing anything.

Q: What fuse should I run with a 50A Anderson plug?
A: Size fusing to protect the smallest wire in the circuit, not the plug rating. For 8mm² (roughly 8B&S) cable feeding a 50A load, a 50A MIDI or MEGA fuse at the source is a common choice. Match the fuse to the actual load, not the plug ceiling, when the load is much smaller.

Q: Is the plug weather-resistant?
A: The polycarbonate housing sheds spray and dust once mated, but the contacts are exposed when the plug is disconnected. Cap unused ends with a rubber cover when parked to keep dirt and moisture off them.
