A three-cavity SB-3 form-factor Anderson-style plug, sold as a matched pair, rated 50A 600V DC. Distributes main battery power plus a signal or ignition line through one modular disconnect, so a canopy, DC-DC charger, or auxiliary system with battery positive, negative and an ignition-sense line comes apart in one motion. Suits touring 4WDs, camper trailers, canopy builds, mining, fleet and trade vehicles.

The three-cavity nylon housing takes standard 50A SB-family contacts, one per cavity, wire-crimped from the rear. Grey housings only mate with matching grey housings. The colour keying stops accidental cross-connection between systems on the same vehicle. Each cavity accepts cable from around 3mm² up to 6mm² depending on the contact fitted.

Contacts and cable are sold separately (six contacts complete a pair). The housing is splash and dust resistant when mated, not fully IP-sealed when unplugged, so a fully weatherproof disconnect needs a Deutsch DT-style connector or a purpose-built waterproof plug instead.

  • 3-way SB-3 housing — combines main power with a signal wire
  • 50A 600V rated — matches standard SB50-family plug systems
  • Grey polarised body — pairs with matching grey 3-way plugs only
  • Nylon construction — takes vibration and off-road use
  • Twin pack — enough for a full disconnect pair

3-way plug for combined power and signal disconnects
12V, 24V, 36V and 48V automotive DC systems
4WDs, canopies, campers, trailers, mining and industrial vehicles
240V AC mains circuits — must use an EESS-registered mains connector installed under EC17073

Q: What does the third circuit do?
The third cavity is sized the same as the two main power cavities but is most often used for a low-current signal wire, an ignition-sense line to a DC-DC charger, a remote turn-on for an inverter, or a trigger wire to a canopy-side relay. You can also use it as a third power circuit if the current stays within the plug rating.

Q: Are these interchangeable with standard 2-way SB50 plugs?
No. A 3-way plug only mates with another 3-way plug in the same colour. A standard 2-way SB50 will not physically engage this housing. Choose the 3-way both sides of the disconnect if you want the extra circuit.

Q: What size cable can I run through each cavity?
Each cavity takes the same contact as a standard 50A SB-style plug. Contacts are sold for 6mm² down to about 3mm² automotive cable. Match the contact to the cable, then match the fuse or breaker feeding it to the smallest cable in the circuit.

Q: Do the contacts come with the plugs?
No. This is the housing pair only. Order 50A SB-style contacts separately, sized to your cable, and crimp them on before pushing them into the cavities from the rear.

Q: Why are the housings polarised by colour?
A grey 3-way only mates with a grey 3-way, red only with red, blue only with blue. On a vehicle running more than one system (main battery, aux battery, solar), the colour keying stops you accidentally cross-connecting two different circuits when you plug a canopy back in.

Q: Can I use these on a 240V mains circuit?
No. The 600V rating is a maximum insulation figure, not permission to run 240V AC through them. Mains-voltage work in Australia has to be done by a licensed electrician using EESS-registered fittings under AS/NZS 3000. Bring the job to Elevate (EC17073, Building & Energy WA) or use any qualified sparky.

Q: What temperature range do they handle?
Standard nylon SB-style plugs are rated for typical automotive underbonnet conditions, roughly -20°C up to about +105°C. Direct contact with an exhaust or turbo is outside that range, use heat sleeving or reroute the loom.

Q: Are these sealed against water?
A standard SB-style plug is splash and dust resistant when mated, not fully IP-rated when unplugged. For a full IP-sealed disconnect, look at a sealed Deutsch DT-style connector or a purpose-built waterproof plug in the same current range.

Q: Are these genuine Anderson Power Products brand?
No, these are Anderson-style plugs supplied under the Elevate Automotive range. They follow the SB-3 form factor and mate with other SB-3 plugs of the same colour, but the housing is not made by Anderson Power Products. If you specifically need a genuine Anderson-branded plug, get in touch and we can quote the equivalent APP part.
