Bulk multicore PVC control cable for industrial wiring — control panels, automation systems, machinery and switchboard circuits. Every core is 1mm², numbered in black, with a single yellow/green earth core included in the core count. Supplied in continuous 50m and 100m rolls rather than cut lengths.

Built for flexible or fixed installation in dry, moist and wet indoor environments. The PVC compound resists oil and general chemical exposure, and the cable is rated 300/500V — suitable for standard control and automation circuits. Not rated for outdoor or underground use.

Choosing your core count

The core count includes the earth core, following standard European cable notation — a 5-core cable has 4 numbered black cores plus 1 yellow/green earth, not 5 black cores plus a separate earth. Pick the count based on how many circuits or signals the job needs, and check your panel or wiring diagram for the exact number required.

Core count Numbered cores + earth Commonly used for Roll lengths
3 Core 2 black + 1 earth Basic control loops, single motor start/stop 100m
4 Core 3 black + 1 earth Small multi-point control circuits 100m
5 Core 4 black + 1 earth Multi-signal control feeds, small automation panels 100m
7 Core 6 black + 1 earth Multi-point sensor and actuator wiring 50m, 100m
12 Core 11 black + 1 earth Larger control panels, multiple sensor/actuator loops 50m, 100m

All cores are 1mm² regardless of core count. Every configuration includes the yellow/green earth core.

Need a specific length instead of a full roll?

This is the same cable, sold by the metre — including an 18-core option not stocked in bulk rolls.

  • PVC insulation — flexible, oil and chemical resistant
  • Numbered cores — plus yellow/green earth, included in the core count
  • Indoor rated — dry, moist and wet environments
  • 300/500V — standard control and automation circuits
  • EN 50525 compliant — European control cable standard
  • Bulk rolls — 50m and 100m lengths, ready to cut to size on site

Q: What does "control cable" actually mean?
Control cable is multicore cable built to carry low-power signal, sensor and control-circuit wiring inside machinery, automation systems and switchboards — different from power cable, which carries the main current feeding motors and equipment. This cable is sized for control and automation circuits, not for driving heavy loads.

Q: Does the core count include the earth core?
Yes. Following standard European cable notation, the core count includes the yellow/green earth core — a "5 Core" cable has 4 numbered black cores plus 1 earth core, not 5 black cores plus a separate earth.

Q: How many cores do I need?
That depends on how many circuits or signals your panel or equipment needs to carry. As a guide: 3-core suits a basic control loop (2 working cores + earth), 5-core suits a small multi-signal feed, and 12-core suits larger control panels with multiple sensor and actuator loops. Check your wiring diagram for the exact number of conductors required.

Q: What's the difference between the 50m and 100m roll?
Just the length — both are the same cable, cut from the same continuous run at the point of packaging. Buy the 100m roll if the job needs more than 50m or you want stock on hand for future runs; buy the 50m roll if that covers the job with less left over.

Q: I don't need a full roll — can I buy this cable by the metre instead?
Yes. This is the same cable sold per metre, including an 18-core option not stocked in bulk rolls, so you're not locked into buying more than the job needs.

Q: Can this cable be used outdoors or underground?
No. This is an indoor cable rated for dry, moist and wet indoor environments only. It isn't UV or weather rated, and it isn't rated for direct burial.

Q: Is this cable shielded or screened?
No, this is an unscreened control cable. If your application needs to reject electromagnetic interference — for example, wiring near a variable-speed drive, or a long analog signal run — you need a screened/shielded control cable instead of a general-purpose one like this.

Q: What's the difference between the "flexing" and "fixed" ratings?
The flexing rating (temperature and bending radius) applies where the cable moves during use — cable carriers, moving machine parts, repeated flexing. The fixed rating applies once the cable is installed and stays still, such as inside a switchboard or conduit run. Fixed installations can use a tighter bend and a wider temperature range than a cable that's constantly flexing.

Q: What voltage does this cable handle?
It's rated 300/500V nominal — 300V core-to-earth, 500V core-to-core — which covers standard control and automation circuit voltages. It's not designed for mains distribution or high-voltage power circuits.

Q: What does "EN 50525" mean?
EN 50525 is the European harmonised standard for low-voltage PVC and rubber-insulated cables, covering insulation, sheath material and safety performance. This cable is built to the control-cable part of that standard (EN 50525-2-51), so it's tested to a recognised European specification rather than a generic PVC-cable claim.

Q: Can this be run through cable trays or conduit?
Yes. It's suitable for laying in trays, ducts or conduit for fixed indoor installation, as well as flexible routing where the cable needs to move.

Q: Is this cable resistant to oil and chemicals?
Yes, the PVC compound is oil resistant and holds up to general chemical exposure found in industrial and workshop environments — a common requirement for control cable used near machinery.
