The Bushman DF30-HD is a genuine 12V drawer freezer, sized to slide into a 4WD canopy, ute drawer system or camper trailer. Bushman rate it for -18°C deep freezing in ambients up to 45°C, and +4°C refrigeration in ambients up to 50°C. Ice cream in the Simpson is Bushman's own line, and the numbers back it up.

It runs a genuine Secop Danfoss BD35HD compressor, a 60W unit on a variable speed drive drawing up to 7.5A on 12V. Power consumption sits at around 0.5 Ah/hr at 4°C in a 25°C ambient, rising to 3.8 Ah/hr running as a freezer at -18°C in 45°C heat. Twin cross-flow heat extraction fans keep the compressor cavity cool, and closed cell insulation up to 3 inches thick around the tub is what makes the extreme performance possible.

Storage is a single 25 litre drawer tub with 100% stainless steel drawer runners, all-steel hardware and a slam latch that holds shut on corrugations. Mount it three ways: the supplied HD L brackets, internal mounting sleeves, or the M5 threaded nut inserts on each side for custom brackets. It also stacks with the DF40-HD using the Bushman Double Stack Kit if you want a fridge and a freezer side by side or one on top of the other.

Wire it on its own dedicated circuit straight back to the battery bank. The fridge comes with a 1.5 metre Anderson lead fitted.

Cut-out cavity depth: 880mm, to provide a 40mm gap at the rear

Ventilation: the compressor cavity must have free air flow in and out. Do not enclose the compressor end in a sealed cabinet

Wiring: dedicated circuit direct to the battery bank. 4mm2 cable is acceptable for a typical install; 6mm2 is our preferred size and gives headroom on longer runs. Fit a 15A fuse close to the battery, and an isolation switch rated at least 20A on 12V or 10A on 24V

Power supply: 12V or 24V DC only. Never connect directly to 240V AC. Any inverter must be pure sine wave

Orientation: do not lay the fridge on its back, top or sides, or at any angle over 30 degrees. If it has been laid over, stand it upright for 12 hours before switching it on

Q: What size battery and solar do I need?
A: It depends on your setup — solar input, state of charge, other loads on the same battery, ambient temperature and how often the fridge is opened. Bushman's starting point running as a fridge is a 120Ah AGM or 80Ah lithium with 200W of solar. Running as a deep freezer, a 300Ah AGM or 240Ah lithium with 500W of solar. Both assume a fridge-only circuit in average conditions.

Q: What colour is it available in?
A: Matte black only.

Q: Can I run it from 240V power?
A: Yes, using a 240V to 12V transformer — but most customers run their fridge from a battery bank all the time and use a smart battery charger to maintain the battery when 240V is available.

Q: Can I use it as a fridge?

Q: Can I use it as a deep freezer?
A: Yes. Set the thermostat to -18°C.

Q: Can the compressor be moved?
