TROPICAL RATED TO 43°C

Holds temperature in ambients up to 43°C, so it keeps working through an Australian summer.

~4L INTERNAL FREEZER

Deep and narrow by design, so the freezer takes as little as possible from your fridge space.

1.0 AH PER HOUR

Secop Danfoss BD35HD variable speed compressor keeps the average draw low enough for a modest battery bank.

7 YEAR COMPRESSOR WARRANTY

Backed by 7 years on the compressor and 3 years on the fridge, direct from Bushman.

REVERSIBLE DOOR, MOUNT KIT SUPPLIED

Hinge the door left or right to suit your layout. Full mounting kit and 1.2m Anderson lead included.

The Bushman DC50-X is the smallest upright in Bushman's Heavy Duty DC-X range. At 50 litres, it is the fridge for van fit-outs, tiny houses, small powerboats and canopies where a bigger unit will not fit. It draws around 1.0 amp hour per hour at 25°C ambient, averaged across a full day.

It runs a genuine Secop Danfoss BD35HD compressor, a 60W unit on a variable speed drive that modulates its output to suit the load rather than simply cycling hard on and off. That is what keeps the average current draw low across 24 hours. It carries a Tropical 'T' rating and is rated to hold temperature in ambients up to 43°C.

Made for built-in installations. Flush mount into cabinetry using the supplied mounting kit, or fasten through the internal M5 sleeves, or use the M5 threaded inserts around the cabinet for custom brackets. The compressor cavity needs 2 rear vents of 400cm² free area each. Wire it on its own dedicated circuit straight back to your battery bank.

The DC50-X sits under the DC65-X in the DC-X range. Both are 495mm and 515mm deep respectively, so if the opening you have is closer to 520mm deep step up to the DC65-X for the extra 15 litres. If you are working with even less space, the DC50-X at 380mm wide and 525mm high is Bushman's smallest upright.

Product Code: DC50-X

Low Voltage Cut-In (minimum to start): 10.9V on 12V systems, 22.7V on 24V systems

Low Voltage Cut-Out (minimum to continue running): 9.6V on 12V systems, 21.3V on 24V systems

Tropical Rating: T-Class, rated to 43 degrees C ambient

Length: 495mm

Width: 380mm

Height: 530mm

Mounting options: Bushman support three methods for the DC50-X. 1. Four M5 threaded sleeves inside the cabinet, two per side. 2. The supplied mounting kit fascia, fastened to the sides and top of the cabinet. 3. M5 threaded nut inserts and matching bolts around the cabinet for custom brackets, minimum eight bolts. There is no dedicated Bushman fridge box for the DC50-X

Ventilation: two rear vents required, each with a free cross-section of at least 400cm2. A 400 x 200mm vent frame with a 400cm2 free-area grille meets one vent. The compressor cavity must vent to outside or to the main room, not into a sealed cabinet

Wiring: dedicated circuit direct to the battery bank. 4mm2 cable is acceptable for a typical install; 6mm2 is our preferred size and gives headroom on longer runs. Fit a 15A fuse close to the battery, and an isolation switch rated at least 20A on 12V or 10A on 24V

Power supply: 12V or 24V DC only. Never connect directly to 240V AC. Any inverter must be pure sine wave. If wired through a shunt or battery management system, connect the fridge to the terminal closest to the battery

Orientation: do not lay the fridge on its back, top or sides, or at any angle over 30 degrees. If it has been laid over, stand it upright for 12 hours before switching it on

Thermostat: start on setting 3, wait 24 hours, then adjust one notch at a time. Settings 3 to 5 suit most installs. Above 5 causes rapid ice build-up

Installation must be carried out by a suitably trained professional. See the owner manual below for the full ventilation and installation detail

Suitable for vans, trucks, boats, RVs, and small off-grid installations.

Q: How do I mount my Bushman DC50-X fridge?
A: Three ways: using the supplied mounting frame, using the internal mounting sleeves, or creating your own brackets.

Q: Does the door protrude past the outside of the fridge cabinet when opened at 90°?
A: No, the door does not protrude past the cabinet, however the door handle does — by about 20mm.

Q: How tall is the DC50-X door?
A: The door is 520mm tall including the handle. Move the handle to the side of the door and the door height without the handle is 505mm.

Q: Can I fit 2L milk bottles in the door?
A: No, 2L milk bottles do not fit in the DC50-X door. You can fit 1L milk bottles.

Q: What are the dimensions of the wire shelves?
A: Approximately 310mm wide and 310mm deep.

Q: What are the freezer dimensions?
A: Approximately 210mm wide, 220mm deep and 90mm tall, with rounded corners.

Q: What size battery and solar do I need?
A: It depends on your setup — solar input, state of charge, other loads on the same battery, ambient temperature and how often the fridge is opened. Bushman's starting point is around a 120Ah AGM or 75Ah lithium battery with 200W of solar, but that assumes a fridge-only circuit in average conditions.

Q: Can the door open from the other side?
A: Yes. The hinges move from the right side to the left, and the door handle moves to match.

Q: What colour is it available in?
A: Matte black only.

Q: Can I run it from 240V power?
A: Yes, using a 240V to 12V transformer — but most customers run their fridge from a battery bank all the time and use a smart battery charger to maintain the battery when 240V is available.

Q: What are the internal dimensions of the crisper tub?
A: Approximately 290mm wide, 300mm deep and 80mm tall.
