A tin-plated copper cable lug that terminates 95mm² cable onto an M10 stud. Bolts straight to battery posts, busbars and high-current terminal blocks in dual-battery kits, DC-DC feeds, house-battery banks and solar setups. Suits automotive, marine and 4WD installs where the join gets exposed to weather.

The copper barrel carries the full 95mm² cross-section with minimal voltage drop across the joint. Tin plating over the copper core resists tarnish in salt air, engine-bay heat and humid canopy environments (file the silver finish and the copper underneath shows through). The barrel is sized specifically for 95mm² strand pack so the crimp seats against the copper strands, not around empty air.

Crimp with a tool sized for 95mm² lugs. Torque the M10 stud nut to the equipment manufacturer's spec for the fastener; over-tightening deforms the barrel or cracks the terminal post. For marine or exposed installs, finish the crimp with adhesive-lined dual-wall heat-shrink to seal the copper-to-cable interface.

  • Tin-plated copper — high conductivity, corrosion-resistant
  • 10mm stud — bolts straight to battery/busbar terminals
  • 95mm² barrel — sized for heavy-duty DC cable
  • Marine-suitable — tin layer resists tarnish in salty/humid air

Q: What cable size fits this lug?
95mm² cable. Check the cable's cross-sectional area before ordering; a lug sized for 95mm² won't crimp securely onto a smaller or larger cable.

Q: What does 95mm² mean?
The cross-sectional area of the copper strand pack inside the cable, not the outside diameter of the sheath. A 95mm² cable is heavy-duty automotive wire; typical uses include dual-battery main feeds, DC-DC charger output leads and inverter battery cables where the current sits above 200A continuous.

Q: What's the difference between M10 and M8 studs?
The bolt size the lug fits over. M10 is a 10mm-diameter stud (thread pitch usually 1.5mm); M8 is 8mm. Match the stud to the terminal post or busbar it's bolting to; forcing an M8 lug onto an M10 stud leaves the bolt loose in the hole, and an M10 lug on an M8 stud waggles at the joint. Both fail the crimp long-term.

Q: Is this suitable for outdoor or marine use?
Yes. The tin plating over the copper core is specifically designed to resist corrosion in salty and humid environments. Bare copper would tarnish and eventually go green; the tin layer stops that. Finishing the crimp joint with adhesive-lined heat-shrink is still good practice (keeps moisture out of the copper-to-cable interface where the two metals meet), but the lug itself is marine-suitable straight out of the packet.

Q: Why is the lug silver, not copper-coloured?
The silver finish is tin plating: a thin layer of tin bonded over the copper core. Filing through the tin reveals the copper conductor underneath. Tin plating is the standard treatment for automotive and marine cable lugs; it doesn't affect the electrical connection but improves corrosion resistance vs bare copper.

Q: What tools do I need to fit it?
A crimping tool or hydraulic crimper sized for 95mm² lugs to compress the barrel onto the cable, plus a spanner or socket to torque the stud nut once it's bolted down. Torque the stud nut to the equipment manufacturer's specification for the M10 fastener you're using; over-tightening can deform the lug or crack the terminal post.

Q: Can I solder this instead of crimping?
A crimp is the correct termination for a copper battery lug. Soldering runs the risk of a cold joint under the barrel and stiffens the strands right at the exit, which then flex-fatigues in service. If a hydraulic crimper isn't available, a hammer-crimp tool sized for 95mm² is a workable second choice; a soldered joint is not.

Q: Do I need to seal the crimp?
For enclosed engine bays and dry cabin installs, no; the crimp itself is airtight. For marine, canopy or under-vehicle installs where water can pool at the joint, seal the finished crimp with adhesive-lined dual-wall heat-shrink. The adhesive melts into the strand exit and blocks capillary moisture at the copper-to-cable interface.
