A 12V 105Ah AGM deep cycle battery built for sustained draw rather than engine starting. Runs a 12V fridge for two to three days unassisted, powers caravan house loads overnight, feeds a 1000W inverter for short runs and keeps mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs moving between charges. Sits in a dual battery tray in a 4WD, under the bed in a caravan or in a battery box on a boat.

Absorbed Glass Mat construction holds the electrolyte in porous glass fibre mats, so the battery is sealed, maintenance-free and safe to mount at angles up to 90 degrees. Weighs 29kg across a 307 by 169 by 210mm footprint with 215mm clearance to the top of the M8 threaded insert terminals. D-polarity layout, central venting with flame arrestor, pressure safety valve and moulded carry handles.

Keep the discharge above 50 percent state-of-charge to get the published cycle life. Recharge with a DC-DC charger set to an AGM profile, not an alternator feed on its own, and keep absorption around 14.4V with a float of 13.6 to 13.8V. It is not a starting battery; crank duty shortens its life.

  • AGM construction — electrolyte sealed in glass mats, no top-up, no spill.
  • Vibration resistant — rated for corrugated-track, off-road and marine mounting.
  • Multi-angle fitment — safe to mount up to 90 degrees off vertical.
  • M8 threaded inserts — accepts standard M8 lug bolts, no stud adapter.
  • Flame arrestor — central venting with pressure safety valve.
  • Carry handles — moulded top handles for the 29kg lift.
  • Deep-cycle plates — thick plates for sustained draw, not cranking.

Electrical

Voltage: 12V DC

Capacity: 105Ah @ C20

Float voltage: 13.6–13.8V

Operating temp: -20 to 60°C

Build

Chemistry: AGM

Terminal: M8 insert

Polarity: D

Length: 307mm

Width: 169mm

Height to case: 210mm

Height to terminal top: 215mm

Weight: 29kg

Mount upright or on its side; up to 90 degrees off vertical is safe with the spill-proof AGM design. Leave 20mm of clear air around the case for venting and heat.

Terminate with M8 bolts into the threaded inserts. Torque to 10Nm; don't exceed 11Nm, and don't crank down with a rattle gun or the brass insert strips.

Fuse the positive feed within 300mm of the terminal. A 150A ANL covers a 6mm² house loop; a 60A MIDI covers lighter aux circuits.

Charge from a DC-DC charger set to an AGM profile for anything deeper than light top-up duty. Direct alternator feeds undercharge AGM over time and shorten its life.

12V deep-cycle house battery for auxiliary and dual-battery setups.
Fits 12V DC systems (caravans, 4WDs, boats, mobility, solar)
Not a cranking battery; sustained-load design keeps burst current low
Not for 24V alone; pair two in series for a 24V house bank

Q: What does AGM actually mean?
A: Absorbed Glass Mat. The acid lives inside porous glass fibre mats between the plates instead of sloshing around as a liquid. That makes the battery sealed, spill-proof and safe to mount at angles. A fridge-slide battery that gets tipped on a dirt track doesn't leak.

Q: What does D polarity mean?
A: Terminal layout where the positive post sits on the right when you face the battery with the terminals at the back. Match it to your tray and cable layout; the alternative is C polarity (positive on the left).

Q: What does Ah at C20 mean?
A: The 20-hour capacity rating. A 105Ah C20 battery delivers 5.25 amps continuously for 20 hours before it hits 10.5V. Pull harder and you get less; pull gently and you get a little more.

Q: What fuse should I run on the positive cable?
A: Match the fuse to the cable, not the battery. A 150A ANL or MEGA within 300mm of the terminal covers a 6mm² or heavier house loop; a 60A MIDI covers lighter aux feeds. The battery can source well above either.

Q: Can I crank my engine off this battery?
A: No. Deep-cycle plates are thick to survive long slow discharges, which means low burst current. Starting an engine draws 200 to 600 amps for a few seconds, which is a cranking battery's job. Keep this one for the fridge, lights, inverter and water pump.

Q: Can I mount it on its side or upside down?
A: On its side or at any angle up to 90 degrees off vertical, yes. Inverted (upside down) is not recommended by Century.

Q: What charger should I use?
A: A DC-DC charger set to an AGM profile for in-vehicle charging (absorption around 14.4V, float 13.6 to 13.8V). A multi-stage mains AGM charger for bench top-up. An alternator feeding the battery direct through an isolator will undercharge it over time; a DC-DC in between fixes that.

Q: Should I pick this or step up to the 125Ah or 140Ah?
A: Pick 105Ah if your draw averages under 50Ah per 24 hours and you can recharge daily. Step up if you run an inverter or pull more than 50Ah between charges. Weight scales with capacity (29kg here, 36kg at 125Ah, 42kg at 140Ah).

Q: What's the real cycle life?
A: Century rates the C12-XDA range as superior cycle life but doesn't publish a numeric cycle count. Industry pattern for AGM at this price point is around 500 cycles to 50 percent depth-of-discharge, and roughly 1,200 cycles to 30 percent DoD. Shallower cycling makes it last years longer.

Q: Is a lithium battery better?
A: Lithium runs lighter (a 100Ah LiFePO4 is around 12kg vs 29kg here), tolerates deeper discharge and lasts more cycles, but costs two to three times more and needs a lithium-profile charger. AGM is the right pick if the budget is tight or the vehicle already has an AGM-profile charger.
