A 270Ah sealed AGM deep cycle battery for large caravan house banks, motorhome electrics, off-grid solar storage, marine house banks and mobility fleet applications. Delivers 270Ah at the C20 rate, hundreds of cycles at 50% depth-of-discharge, and recovers charge through an AGM-aware charger at up to 30% of capacity (around 80A). The biggest single-unit AGM Century ships — one battery often replaces a pair of 100Ah units.

Sealed AGM so there's no acid to spill, no venting required, safe at any mounting angle. 520 by 268 by 220mm case (225mm total height), M8 bolt terminals for permanent cable lugs, 74kg total weight warrants mechanical lift or two-person handling. Carry handles cast into the lid, flame-arrestor central venting, vibration-resistant internal plates. C polarity. ABS flame-resistant case.

Not a starting battery. Charge with an AGM-aware smart charger or DC-DC charger set to 14.4-14.7V absorption and 13.5-13.6V float. For caravan and off-grid banks pair with a large DC-DC (40A plus) or solar charge controller sized for 20% of capacity minimum. Q: Is 270Ah enough for off-grid living?
For a conservative off-grid setup running a 12V fridge, LED lights, USB charging and occasional small-inverter use, 270Ah gives 2-3 days of autonomy at 50% depth of discharge before needing solar or DC-DC recharge. For higher continuous loads (induction cooktops, air-con, 240V inverter loads above 1500W), consider lithium or multiple AGM units in parallel.

Q: What is AGM?
Absorbed Glass Mat. The electrolyte sits in a fibreglass separator between the plates rather than sloshing as liquid. Spill-proof, mounts at any angle (except inverted), safer indoors than a flooded battery, and faster to recharge than conventional lead-acid.

Q: Can I use this as a cranking battery?
No. Cranking current isn't published for this cell and the plates are built for sustained discharge, not high short-duration current. Use a dedicated starter battery.

Q: Does 270Ah mean 270 amps for one hour?
No. 270Ah at C20 means 13.5A for 20 hours. Discharging faster gives you less total capacity — pulling 270 amps for one hour gives roughly 150-180Ah of usable capacity due to lead-acid Peukert's law.

Q: How do I charge an AGM battery of this size?
AGM-aware smart charger or DC-DC charger set to 14.4-14.7V absorption and 13.5-13.6V float. For a 270Ah bank, size the charger at 20-30% of capacity (50-80A) for reasonable recharge time. A 1000W inverter-generator powering a 50A AGM charger gets a 50% discharged bank back to full in about 6-8 hours.

Q: Can I parallel it with my existing 100Ah battery?
Not recommended. Paralleling batteries of different age, capacity, or chemistry means the weaker battery drags down the stronger. Best practice is a matched pair purchased and installed together. Never mix AGM with lithium.

Q: Can I mount it on its side?
Yes. Any angle up to 90°. Never inverted (upside down).

Q: Is it maintenance-free?
Yes. Sealed, no fluid top-ups, flame-arrestor pressure valve under extreme pressure only.
