A 12V 75Ah AGM deep cycle battery for the house side of a caravan, 4WD, boat or RV. Sealed and spill-proof, so it mounts upright, on its side or at any angle up to 90 degrees. Suits dual battery systems, mobility scooters, golf carts, electric wheelchairs and off-grid solar banks that need steady low-current power over hours rather than engine-start bursts.

Thicker cast plates and absorbed glass mat construction take repeated discharge cycles without plate shedding. The sealed valve-regulated case needs no electrolyte top-up and vents through a central flame arrestor, so it sits safely in enclosed battery boxes and under-bunk compartments. Case is 260 by 169 by 211mm with M6 threaded insert terminals and moulded carry handles. 23.5kg.

Fit a DC-DC charger between an alternator or solar panel and this battery rather than wiring it directly across the starter, so the charge profile matches AGM voltages (14.6-14.8V cycle, 13.6-13.8V float). Direct alternator connection overcharges or undercharges depending on cable run, which cuts cycle life. Max charge current is 22.5A, so most 25A and 40A DC-DCs drop their output to suit.

  • AGM thick plates — handles repeated deep discharge without shedding
  • Sealed, spill-proof — mounts upright, side or any angle to 90°
  • Vibration resistant — holds up on corrugations and rough tracks
  • Fast recharge — accepts up to 22.5A for quicker turnaround
  • Low self-discharge — under 3% per month in storage
  • Flame-arrestor vent — safe in enclosed boxes and bunk compartments
  • Moulded carry handles — easier to lift and position at 23.5kg

The sealed AGM case lets this battery mount flat, on its side or at any angle up to 90 degrees. Fit it inside a vented battery box when the installation sits in a living space, so any venting goes outside.

Secure with a top clamp or J-hook so vibration doesn't walk the battery around in its tray. Keep the terminals clear of metal panels or lids, and leave at least 10mm of airflow around the case.

Charge through a DC-DC charger set to the AGM profile, not direct from the alternator. Fuse the positive lead within 300mm of the battery terminal; a 50 to 70A fuse rating suits typical 6mm² to 8mm² cable runs.

M6 threaded insert terminals take an M6 bolt. Torque to 6 to 8 Nm. Smear terminals with petroleum jelly after connection to slow corrosion.

Q: What does AGM mean?
Absorbed Glass Mat. The electrolyte is held in a fibreglass mat between the plates instead of sloshing around as liquid, so the case is sealed, spill-proof and safe to mount sideways or at any angle up to 90 degrees.

Q: What does 75Ah at 20 hours actually mean?
The battery delivers 75 amp-hours when drawn down over 20 hours (3.75A continuous). Pulling harder gives less back. Caravan and fridge loads sit around this rate, so the published figure is realistic for that use.

Q: Can I mount this battery on its side?
Yes, up to 90 degrees. The sealed AGM case doesn't need to breathe and holds no free liquid, so sideways and vertical mounts both work.

Q: Will this start a car engine?
Not reliably. It's a deep cycle, built for steady low-current draw over hours rather than a 500A crank burst. Use it as the auxiliary or house battery and keep a dedicated starter battery for engine starts.

Q: Do I need a DC-DC charger?
Yes, if the charge comes off the alternator or a solar panel. AGM needs a specific voltage profile (14.6 to 14.8V cycle, 13.6 to 13.8V float) that an alternator can't hold on its own. A DC-DC charger between the two batteries delivers the right voltage and protects the starter battery from going flat.

Q: What size DC-DC charger suits this battery?
A 25A or 40A DC-DC is the common pairing for a single 75Ah AGM. Both drop their output to match the battery's 22.5A max charge current, so neither overcharges. The 40A unit gets the battery back to full faster when solar input is strong.

Q: How many cycles will I get out of it?
Century doesn't publish a specific cycle-life figure for this model. Kept to a 50% depth of discharge and recharged promptly, a well-managed AGM delivers several hundred cycles over several years. Running it flatter each day cuts that figure down.

Q: Can I charge this with a lithium charger?
No. Lithium charge profiles sit higher than AGM can tolerate and will cook the plates over time. Set the charger to AGM mode, or use a profile that matches 14.6 to 14.8V cycle and 13.6 to 13.8V float.

Q: Is this battery safe inside a caravan or boat cabin?
Yes. It's valve-regulated with a central flame arrestor, so it vents only on overcharge and holds no free electrolyte. Fit it inside a vented battery box when the installation sits in a living space, so any emergency venting goes outside the cabin.

Q: How does the 75Ah compare to the 55Ah and 105Ah in the same range?
The 55Ah suits a weekend caravan with a 40L fridge and basic LED lighting (around 20 to 25Ah per day). The 75Ah covers a mid-size dual battery setup for a few days off-grid with fridge, phones, lights and a water pump. The 105Ah adds another day of usable buffer when solar input is thin or an inverter is in the mix. Pick based on daily draw divided by 2 (to keep depth-of-discharge near 50% for cycle life), plus a day of reserve.
