A 12V 63Ah starter battery in the DIN65L case with C polarity, positive on the left when the terminals face you. Fits Toyota Camry, Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon, Mazda 3, Hyundai i30, Nissan X-Trail, Mitsubishi Outlander and Subaru Forester with factory DIN65 trays. Sits as the C polarity sibling to the DIN65R MF, which carries positive on the right for European marques with the mirror terminal arrangement.

Measures 277 by 175 mm with 175 mm case height and runs 15.5 kg. Posts are STD tapered for standard clamp terminals, with side and end hold-down lugs for the OE tray clamp. Calcium plates hold charge at around 2% self-discharge per month and cut water loss over the battery's life. Central venting, flame arrestor, recessed posts and a top-mounted state-of-charge indicator ship as standard.

This is a flooded calcium wet-cell starter, not AGM or EFB. It works with standard engine management and standard power demands, not Start-Stop cycling or deep-cycle duty. Series-pair two for 24V off a single alternator only when both are matched for age and state of charge.

What sets it apart

Australian climatic chamber testing, reinforced plate welds and double-insulated separators carry it through hot-weather driving in the local car park. The DIN65L case fits as factory OE for mid-size Japanese, Korean and Australian saloons with the C polarity arrangement.

Charging, mounting and fusing

Charge on a flooded calcium wet-cell profile with 14.4 to 14.7 V bulk and 13.5 to 13.8 V float at 20°C with temperature compensation. Mount in the OE tray with the factory top clamp or J-hook, torque posts to 10 to 12 Nm (M6 at 5 to 7 Nm, M8 at 8 to 10 Nm), and fuse at the starter solenoid or OE loom rather than at the battery. Series-pair for 24V with matched cable gauge and a single fuse at the start of the run.

  • 580 CCA — cold-start cranking for 12V petrol and diesel
  • 120 min reserve — accessory runtime margin
  • 63Ah capacity — mid-size car and SUV compatible
  • Calcium plates — ~2% self-discharge per month
  • Maintenance-free — sealed, no top-ups required
  • STD tapered posts — standard clamp terminals fit
  • Vibration-resistant — Australian conditions tested
  • Central vent, flame arrestor — safety features standard

Disconnect the vehicle's power with the negative terminal first and keep an OBD2 memory saver connected if the car has active modules (radio code, mirror positions, idle-learn, climate presets). Lift the old battery out and inspect the tray and clamp for corrosion before setting the new one in.

Set the DIN65L into the OE tray with the positive terminal on the LEFT (C polarity). Seat the top clamp or J-hook on the side and end hold-down lugs and torque the clamp fasteners to the vehicle manufacturer's spec, typically 4 to 7 Nm. Torque the terminal posts to 10 to 12 Nm (M6 at 5 to 7 Nm, M8 at 8 to 10 Nm). Reconnect positive first, negative second.

European marques typically take DIN65R (D polarity) rather than DIN65L. If you're swapping a European car and the OE battery sat positive-left, the DIN65L is a direct swap. Modern European marques from around 2008 onward may also need a battery registration or BMS reset with VCDS, ODIS, ISTA, Xentry or Autologic after a battery change. Check the vehicle manufacturer's workshop manual before clearing the dash.

Charge off a flooded calcium wet-cell profile with 14.4 to 14.7 V bulk and 13.5 to 13.8 V float at 20°C with temperature compensation. Fuse the starter loom at the OE location, not at the battery. For 24V series pairing, use matched cable gauge and a single fuse at the start of the run; do not fuse between the two batteries.

Q: What does DIN65L mean?
A: DIN is the European sizing standard, 65 is the amp-hour band around 63Ah, and L is the C polarity flag (positive terminal on the left) for Toyota Camry, Holden Commodore and other mainstream saloons.

Q: What does MF mean?
A: Maintenance-free. The case is sealed, there are no caps to top up with distilled water, and the central venting keeps gases away from the engine bay. Just connect and drive.

Q: What does CCA stand for?
A: Cold cranking amps. The 580 figure is the number of amps the battery delivers for 30 seconds at minus 18°C while holding voltage above 7.2V. Higher CCA cranks a cold engine faster.

Q: What does RC mean?
A: Reserve capacity in minutes. 120 min means that if the alternator stops charging, the battery runs the car's base electrical load (headlights, ECU, instruments) for 120 minutes at a 25A draw before it drops below 10.5V.

Q: What's the difference between DIN65L MF and DIN65R MF?
A: Terminal polarity and vehicle fit. DIN65L carries C polarity with positive on the LEFT, which matches Toyota Camry, Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon, Mazda 3, i30, X-Trail, Outlander and Forester OE trays. DIN65R carries D polarity with positive on the RIGHT, which matches European marques (Audi A3, VW Golf, BMW 1 Series, Mercedes A-Class). The two are mirror images. Install the wrong one and the factory cables either don't reach, or they reach and short against the battery wall.

Q: I have a Start-Stop car. Can I use this?
A: No. Start-Stop vehicles cycle the battery hundreds of times a day and need an EFB or AGM battery rated for that duty. The DIN65L MF is a conventional flooded calcium starter. Fit an EFB or AGM in a Start-Stop vehicle, not this battery.

Q: Does my European car need a BMS reset after I fit this?
A: DIN65L (C polarity) typically doesn't fit European marques (they usually take DIN65R D polarity), so this question is more likely to come up with the DIN65R sibling. If the DIN65L is a direct swap for your car, a reset isn't normally required. If you have doubts, check the OE part number in the handbook or on the top of the old battery.

Q: What's the warranty?
A: 30 months against manufacturing defects. Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims. This matches Century's published cover across the Hi Performance DIN range (DIN65, DIN75 and DIN85 lines).

Q: Can I series-pair two for a 24V system?
A: Yes, with care. Match two for age and state of charge, run matched cable gauge, and put a single fuse at the start of the run (not between the batteries). A mismatched pair discharges unevenly and shortens the life of both.

Q: How long should this battery last?
A: A conventional flooded calcium starter typically runs 3 to 5 years in Australian conditions, depending on heat, drive cycles and parasitic draw. Keep it charged above 12.4V and clean the terminals annually to get the most out of it.
