A 12-volt 90Ah starting battery that fits the DIN75RH case profile with the positive post on the right side. Suits mid-to-large European diesels and large-engine imports: Audi A4 and A6 TDI, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class and S-Class diesel, BMW 3-Series and 5-Series diesel, VW Passat and Golf TDI, Range Rover Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe diesel and larger Volvos. The D polarity (right-side positive) matches the OE tray and loom routing on these fitments; the sibling DIN75LH MF (same specs, mirror polarity) covers the C-polarity equivalents.

The case is 315 by 175 by 190 mm and the battery weighs 20.9 kg. Calcium plates slow self-discharge to around 2% per month and give solid cranking amps across a cold start cycle. The central vent, flame arrestor and sealed top keep acid mist in and let the pack sit under a bonnet without regular topping-up. Standard tapered lead posts take the OE top-clamp cable connector. A green state-of-charge indicator eye sits in the top case so a quick visual check tells you if the pack is holding, needs charge, or has sulfated past its service life.

What sets it apart

Century tests Hi Performance DIN batteries against Australian conditions, where under-bonnet heat, long key-off sits in the carpark and corrugated-dirt-road vibration hammer imported-spec batteries faster than European service-life predictions. The DIN75RH case is OE-spec for DIN75RH fitments across the imported marques above. Vibration-resistant plate stacks, flame-arrestor venting and the SOC eye give reliable cold-start performance and a visible service-life indicator for a typical 2 to 4 year AU replacement interval.

Charging, mounting and fusing

Standard flooded calcium wet-cell charging profile: 14.4 to 14.7 V bulk and 13.5 to 13.8 V float at 20°C, with temperature compensation if the charger supports it. Not an AGM profile. Modern European marques (Audi, VW, Skoda, BMW, Mercedes from the mid-2010s onward) often need a dealer-level or OBD scan tool to reset the Battery Management System after swap-in; without the reset the vehicle thinks the old battery is still fitted and charges it incorrectly. Mount with the vehicle's OE top-clamp or J-hook hold-down; torque posts to 10 to 12 Nm. Fuse at the starter cable or OE loom, not at the battery terminal.

This is a conventional flooded starter battery, not a Start-Stop replacement. Vehicles with factory ISS or stop-start systems need Century's ISS Active EFB or AGM range; fitting a conventional battery to an ISS vehicle will fail prematurely within months. For 24V vehicles, use two of these in series rather than one battery per side. A single DIN75RH will not run as a stand-alone 24V unit.

Mount upright on the OE battery tray; the DIN75RH case drops into a factory DIN75RH mount with the positive post on the right side (D polarity). Secure with the vehicle's OE top-clamp bar or J-hook hold-down; torque hold-down bolts to the vehicle manual's figures (typically 5 to 8 Nm) and terminal posts to 10 to 12 Nm. Keep the top-of-case within 20 mm of the bonnet liner for airflow.

Modern European marques (Audi, VW, Skoda, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes from the mid-2010s onward) need a dealer-level or OBD scan tool to reset the Battery Management System after the swap. Without the reset the vehicle's charging logic reads the old battery and charges incorrectly, which shortens the new battery's life. Independent workshops with a VAG-COM, Autologic, Launch X-431 or similar scan tool can perform the reset.

Standard flooded calcium wet-cell charging profile: 14.4 to 14.7 V bulk and 13.5 to 13.8 V float at 20°C. Use a charger that matches this profile. AGM-only chargers push higher voltages and will dry out calcium plates faster. Smart chargers with a WET or STD mode are the right choice.

Fuse at the starter cable or OE loom route, not at the battery terminal post itself. The battery delivers the current the vehicle asks for; fuse size on the loom should match the OE spec for the cable gauge and the downstream load.

12V European and import diesels and larger petrol engines with factory DIN75RH tray: Audi A4/A6 TDI, Mercedes-Benz C/E/S-Class diesel, BMW 3/5-Series diesel, VW Passat/Golf TDI, Range Rover Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe diesel, larger Volvos.
4WDs and SUVs with factory DIN75RH mount and D polarity.
Two in series for 24V installs at 90Ah per bank.
Start-Stop (ISS) vehicles: needs Century's ISS Active EFB or AGM range.
Single-battery 24V installs: needs a 24V-specific battery.
Vehicles with C polarity (positive left): use the sibling DIN75LH MF.

Q: What does DIN75RH mean?
DIN75RH is a European battery case standard. DIN is Deutsches Institut für Normung (German standards body). The 75 is the capacity bracket (around 75 to 90 Ah). R means the positive post sits on the right side when you look at the top of the battery. H means the case is the taller height-plus variant of the DIN75 profile. The DIN75RH case fits any vehicle with a factory DIN75RH tray, common on larger-engine European diesels and some imports.

Q: What does MF mean?
MF stands for Maintenance-Free. The battery is sealed, uses calcium plates with central venting, and does not need water topping across its normal service life. The green SOC indicator eye on the top case tells you if the pack is charged, needs charging, or has reached end-of-life.

Q: What does CCA mean, and why is 750 CCA important?
CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) is the current the battery can deliver at -18°C for 30 seconds while keeping voltage above 7.2 V. Higher CCA means stronger cold-start performance. 750 CCA is well-matched to diesel engines in European mid-to-large sedans and SUVs, which demand more current to spin a cold diesel starter than a petrol starter.

Q: What does RC mean, and why does 160 minutes matter?
RC (Reserve Capacity) is how many minutes the battery can deliver 25A continuously (an alternator-off load) before dropping below 10.5 V. 160 min at 25A is about 2 hours 40 minutes. In practice, that's the real-world runtime for dash electronics, lights, and in-car systems if the alternator stops charging, enough to drive home from a short alternator fault.

Q: What is D polarity, and does it matter?
D polarity means the positive terminal sits on the right side of the battery when viewed from the top. The sibling DIN75LH MF is the mirror, C polarity (positive left). European and import vehicles are built around specific polarity layouts because the cable routing is factory-fixed. Fitting the wrong polarity means the cables won't reach the right posts and you risk shorting the loom. Always match the polarity to the OE tray diagram or the old battery.

Q: Is this a Start-Stop (ISS) battery?
No. The DIN75RH MF is a conventional flooded calcium wet-cell starter battery, not an ISS, EFB or AGM. Vehicles with factory Start-Stop that cuts the engine at idle need Century's ISS Active EFB range (for most cars) or AGM range (for premium Start-Stop systems with regen braking). Fitting a conventional battery to a Start-Stop vehicle will fail in months. The plate design can't handle the extra cycling that Start-Stop demands.

Q: Will this fit my vehicle?
The DIN75RH MF fits any vehicle with a factory DIN75RH tray and D polarity. Common fitments: Audi A4 and A6 TDI, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class and S-Class diesel, BMW 3-Series and 5-Series diesel, VW Passat and Golf TDI, Range Rover Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe diesel, larger Volvos. Measure the old battery (315 × 175 × 190 mm, D polarity, STD posts) to confirm, or send the vehicle details through and we'll confirm fitment.

Q: My car is an Audi, VW, BMW or Mercedes. Do I need to reset anything after fitting?
Yes. Modern European marques (mid-2010s onward) use a Battery Management System that tracks the fitted battery's age and condition. Without a dealer or OBD scan-tool reset, the vehicle keeps charging the new battery as if it were the old one. The reset takes 5 minutes with a VAG-COM, Autologic, Launch X-431 or similar scan tool at any independent workshop. If we're doing the install, the reset is included.

Q: Can I pair two of these in series for a 24V vehicle?
Yes. Two DIN75RH MF batteries in series give 24V at 90Ah. Use batteries of the same age and state of charge; mismatched pairs stress the weaker cell and shorten both. For 24V installs, size the main fuse at the stack output and keep cable runs balanced across both batteries.

Q: What's the warranty?
Century covers the DIN75RH MF with a 30-month manufacturer warranty against defects. Standard exclusions apply: physical damage, undercharging from a bad alternator, overcharging from a wrong-profile charger, or use in deep-cycle applications. If the pack fails within the warranty window with no abuse, Century handles the replacement through their national dealer network.
