An AGM start-stop battery in the DIN75LH case, built to crank engines and absorb the hundreds of restarts a modern stop-start system puts a battery through every week. Fits European and Asian vehicles that came factory-fitted with a DIN75LH AGM, including stop-start variants of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Audi, Mazda and Subaru. Replaces an OE AGM only; do not drop this into a vehicle that factory-fitted an EFB or standard flooded battery.

Absorbed Glass Mat construction holds the electrolyte in a glass-fibre separator so the battery accepts fast charge from regenerative braking and tolerates deep partial-state-of-charge cycles. The case measures 316 by 175 by 190mm, weighs 22.8kg, carries standard tapered terminals in C polarity (positive left when viewed from the terminal face), and uses the side/end hold-down profile that fits most European trays. Flame arrestor, carry handles and recessed posts are built into the case.

Match AGM for AGM when swapping a stop-start battery. An EFB or standard flooded will under-perform and can trip the vehicle's battery monitoring system. If the vehicle needs battery registration or coding, book the fit with a workshop set up to run the reset; fitting without coding leaves the charging logic calibrated to the old battery's age.

  • AGM construction — fast recharge from regenerative braking
  • 800 CCA cranking — cold-weather headroom for European starts
  • 155 min reserve — accessory draw during idle stops
  • 3× cycle life — survives stop-start restart loads
  • Maintenance free — sealed case, no fluid top-up
  • Flame arrestor — safe under-bonnet venting

Battery registration (BMS reset) is required on most modern stop-start vehicles after a swap. Without it, the charging system keeps calibrating voltage for the age of the old battery and the new battery runs under-charged, which shortens its life.

Required tool: a scan tool capable of writing new battery data to the BMS (Launch X-431, Autel MaxiCOM, or OE service kits). BMW and some Mercedes platforms route the coding through the gateway module.

Elevate's workshop handles the fit and the BMS reset in one visit.

Do not fit this AGM to vehicles that factory-fitted an EFB or standard flooded battery; the vehicle's battery monitoring system expects a matched chemistry.

Q: What does AGM mean, and why does my stop-start car need one?
AGM stands for Absorbed Glass Mat. The electrolyte sits inside a glass-fibre separator between the plates rather than sloshing as free liquid. That lets the battery accept rapid charge pulses from regenerative braking and survive the deep partial discharges stop-start cycling creates. A standard flooded battery will physically fit in the tray but sulphates within months.

Q: What is the difference between AGM and EFB?
AGM is the premium stop-start chemistry: glass-fibre separator, higher cycle count, better charge acceptance. EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) is still flooded but with thicker plates and additives for stop-start work; it sits between standard flooded and AGM in both performance and price. Match the chemistry the vehicle came with from the factory. You can replace an EFB with an AGM in some cases, but never go the other way.

Q: What does CCA mean?
Cold Cranking Amps: the current the battery can deliver for 30 seconds at -18°C without terminal voltage falling below 7.2V. Higher CCA means more cold-start headroom. 800CCA on this battery is well above what most stop-start passenger vehicles need; the extra margin absorbs cold morning starts and ageing.

Q: What is Reserve Capacity (RC)?
Reserve Capacity is how many minutes the battery can sustain a 25A draw at 25°C before voltage drops below 10.5V. It is the capacity figure that matters when the engine is not running: accessory draw, cabin lights, infotainment on standby. 155 minutes of RC gives this battery enough reserve to handle extended idle stops.

Q: Can I fit this without a BMS reset?
You can fit it, but the vehicle's charging system will continue calibrating for the age of the old battery, which means the new one sees reduced charging voltage. On BMW, Mercedes, VW, Audi and most European stop-start platforms this cuts the new battery's life significantly. Have a workshop with a scan tool register the battery to the vehicle after fitting.

Q: Will my old battery charger work on this AGM?
Only if it has a dedicated AGM profile. A standard flooded-only charger will overcharge an AGM and dry it out. Century lists CC1206-XLi and CC1212-XLi as compatible chargers; most modern smart chargers from CTEK, NOCO, Projecta and Victron have an AGM mode as well.

Q: How long should this battery last?
In a stop-start application, three to five years is typical. Short-trip-only driving (never fully recharging the battery between starts) shortens the life; a weekly longer drive or an occasional top-up on a mains charger extends it.

Q: Can I use this as an auxiliary (deep-cycle) battery?
It is not the right battery for a dedicated auxiliary role. AGM stop-start batteries are optimised for high cranking current and partial-state-of-charge cycling, not full deep discharge. For a fridge or inverter auxiliary, a dedicated deep-cycle AGM or LiFePO4 is the right pick.

Q: Does the battery arrive ready to fit?
Yes, it ships factory-charged. If it has sat on the shelf for a while, we top it up before dispatch. Open-circuit voltage should read 12.6V or higher on arrival; anything lower means it needs a top-up before the first start.
