An EFB start-stop battery in the DIN75L case, sized up from the DIN65L for mid-size and larger passenger vehicles that need extra cranking and reserve. Fits a wide range of European and Asian vehicles that factory-fitted a DIN75L EFB, covering stop-start variants of VW, Skoda, Peugeot, Citroen, Ford, Mazda and Nissan. Replaces an EFB like-for-like, and will also replace an older standard flooded in a vehicle that does not run stop-start.

Enhanced Flooded Battery construction uses thicker battery plates and polyfibre separators to retain active material through the partial-state-of-charge cycling that stop-start creates. The case measures 313 by 175 by 175mm, weighs 20.3kg, carries standard tapered terminals in C polarity (positive left when viewed from the terminal face), and uses the side/end hold-down profile that fits most European trays. Flame arrestor, carry handles and recessed posts are built in.

Do not fit this EFB to a vehicle that factory-fitted an AGM. The vehicle's battery monitoring system expects a matched chemistry and will under-charge an EFB in that application. If the vehicle needs battery registration after a swap, run the reset through a scan tool before handing the keys back.

  • EFB construction — thicker plates for stop-start cycling
  • 730 CCA cranking — mid-size engine cold-start headroom
  • 135 min reserve — long accessory draw at idle stops
  • 2× cycle life — doubles standard flooded endurance
  • Maintenance free — sealed case, no fluid top-up
  • Flame arrestor — safe under-bonnet venting

Battery registration (BMS reset) is required on most modern stop-start vehicles after a swap. Without it, the charging system keeps calibrating voltage for the age of the old battery and the new battery runs under-charged, which shortens its life.

Required tool: a scan tool capable of writing new battery data to the BMS (Launch X-431, Autel MaxiCOM, or OE service kits).

Elevate's workshop handles the fit and the BMS reset in one visit.

Do not fit this EFB to vehicles that factory-fitted an AGM; the vehicle's battery monitoring system expects a matched chemistry and will under-charge the EFB.

Q: What does EFB mean?
Enhanced Flooded Battery. It is still a flooded (liquid electrolyte) battery, but with thicker plates and additives engineered for stop-start work. EFB sits between standard flooded and AGM in both performance and price.

Q: Can I replace an AGM with this EFB?
No. If the vehicle came factory-fitted with an AGM, replace with AGM. An EFB will physically fit but the vehicle's battery monitoring system under-charges an EFB in an AGM profile, shortening its life.

Q: Why is the DIN75L sized up from the DIN65L?
The DIN75L has a longer case (313mm vs 275mm) and carries more plate area, which gives higher CCA (730 vs 650) and more reserve capacity (135 vs 110 minutes). Vehicles with larger engines, higher accessory loads, or longer idle stops need the extra capacity.

Q: What does CCA mean?
Cold Cranking Amps: the current the battery can deliver for 30 seconds at -18°C without terminal voltage falling below 7.2V. Higher CCA means more cold-start headroom. 730CCA on this battery suits mid-size petrol and diesel passenger vehicles with higher cranking demand.

Q: What is Reserve Capacity (RC)?
Reserve Capacity is how many minutes the battery can sustain a 25A draw at 25°C before voltage drops below 10.5V. 135 minutes of RC gives this battery enough reserve for infotainment, headlights and accessories during extended idle stops in heavy traffic.

Q: Can I fit this in a non-stop-start vehicle?
Yes. An EFB works perfectly well in a conventional vehicle that previously ran a standard flooded battery, and you get the extra cycle life as a bonus. Check the OE case code is a match before ordering.

Q: Does the EFB need a BMS reset?
Most modern stop-start vehicles need the new battery registered to the BMS so the charging system calibrates to a fresh battery. On many Peugeot, Citroen, Ford and VW platforms this reset is required for the stop-start function to stay active.

Q: How long should this battery last?
In stop-start service, three to four years is typical for an EFB. Short-trip driving shortens the life; a weekly longer run or an occasional mains top-up extends it.

Q: Does the battery arrive ready to fit?
Yes, it ships factory-charged. If it has sat on the shelf for a while, we top it up before dispatch. Open-circuit voltage should read 12.6V or higher on arrival; anything lower means it needs a top-up before the first start.
