A 12V heavy-duty starter battery for 4x4s and SUVs — 760 CCA, 100Ah, 180-minute reserve capacity. Sized for touring vehicles that run accessories like fridges, winches and UHF radios off the main battery, not just cranking.

Century designs and builds the Overlander in Australia and backs it with a 36-month warranty. Platelock™ technology and glass mat separators absorb corrugation vibration; thicker full-frame cast plates handle constant load draws; and it's a sealed maintenance-free unit — no top-ups.

What sets it apart

  • Dual-purpose design — cranks the engine and handles semi-cycling load from touring accessories.
  • Platelock™ + glass mat separators — plates locked against vibration and impact on corrugated tracks.
  • Thicker full-frame cast plates — mechanical strength for constant deep-load use.
  • Sealed maintenance-free — no water top-ups, state-of-charge indicator, mud rack, carry handles.
  • Made in Australia, 36-month warranty — assembled by Century for Australian off-road conditions.

⚠ Check polarity before ordering: this is the D polarity version — positive terminal on the left when looking at the label. If your vehicle needs left-hand (opposite) polarity, use the left-polarity Overlander below.

Same battery, opposite polarity:

  • Dual purpose — cranks the engine and handles semi-cycling load from accessories
  • 760 CCA — heavy-duty starting power at ambient temperature
  • 180 min reserve — keeps 25A running for three hours with no engine
  • Platelock™ technology — plates locked against vibration and corrugation impact
  • Glass mat separators — mechanical strength between plates for off-road use
  • Maintenance-free — sealed, no water top-ups
  • State of charge indicator — visual charge check on top of the battery
  • Made in Australia — built by Century, backed by a 36-month warranty

Fitting

  • Confirm your vehicle is D polarity (positive on the left) before ordering.
  • Uses the vehicle's existing hold-down — either a top clamp over the battery or a J-hook clamp around the bottom lip, depending on the vehicle.
  • Standard / wing nut terminals — fits factory terminal clamps.

Before removing the old battery

  • Note down radio and stereo codes if applicable.
  • Use a memory saver on late-model vehicles to keep ECU settings if you want to avoid a re-learn.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal first, then the positive.

Century recommends installation by a qualified auto electrician. Our workshop does this every day — come in and we'll fit it while you wait.

Do not

reverse polarity when connecting — immediate ECU damage. Do not lift by the terminals — use the carry handles.

Comparing against

Same case size, same brand, three tiers within Century's N70 family. Pick by how hard the vehicle works and how much accessory load the battery has to handle.

Under-bonnet installation — uses whatever hold-down your vehicle already has (top clamp or bottom J-hook)
Vehicles running fridges, winches, UHF radios and lighting off the main battery
Australian conditions — heat, dust, corrugation, vibration
Left-hand polarity vehicles — use the left-polarity Overlander instead
As a house battery for permanent deep-cycle use — pair with a lithium auxiliary instead

Q: What does Reserve Capacity (180 min) actually mean?
Reserve Capacity is a standard lead-acid rating: the number of minutes a fully-charged battery keeps delivering 25 amps continuously before the voltage drops to 10.5V (the “dead” cut-off for a 12V battery). Higher RC means longer you can run accessories with the engine off. In real touring terms: 25A × 180 min ÷ 5A load (small fridge) ≈ 15 hours of fridge time from a full charge to flat, no engine.

Q: What does CCA (760) actually mean?
Cold Cranking Amps is the current the battery can deliver for 30 seconds at −18°C without dropping below 7.2V. It measures raw starting power in the cold. Higher CCA gives more headroom for turning over a big diesel or a tired starter motor. 760 CCA covers everything from 4-cylinder utes through V8 diesels.

Q: What's the difference between the Overlander and the Ultra Hi Performance?
Both fit the same case size. The Overlander trades a little CCA for heavy-duty vibration and impact protection — thicker plates, Platelock, glass mat separators. The Ultra Hi Performance has slightly higher CCA and less off-road hardening. Pick the Overlander for 4WD touring; the Ultra Hi Performance for sealed-road driving.

Q: How do I know which polarity my vehicle needs?
Look at your old battery from above, with the label facing you. The positive terminal is the one marked with a + symbol (usually red, often with a red plastic cover); the negative is marked − (usually black). Then match the layout: if the + terminal is on the LEFT and the − is on the RIGHT, you need this Overlander (D polarity). If the + terminal is on the RIGHT and the − is on the LEFT, you need the left-polarity Overlander instead. The wrong polarity will physically fit the tray, but the factory battery cables won't reach the terminals — they're the wrong length for the reversed layout.

Q: Can I run a fridge and touring accessories off this battery alone, without a dual-battery setup?
For short trips or occasional loads, yes — the Overlander is dual-purpose and handles some cycling. For continuous fridge / multi-day touring loads, add a dedicated auxiliary battery so the starter isn't drained overnight. Our workshop fits dual-battery kits daily.

Q: Is this an AGM battery?
No. It's a sealed maintenance-free flooded lead-acid with glass mat separators between the plates — not a full AGM design. AGM starter batteries are a separate range in Century's line-up.

Q: Does it come charged and ready to fit?
Yes — factory charged out of the box. Century services their stock in-store periodically, cycling any batteries that have been on the shelf a while so they leave with us fully conditioned.

Q: Do I need water top-ups?
No. Sealed maintenance-free design — no top-ups over its service life.

Q: How long is the warranty?
36 months, direct from Century. Covers manufacturing defects under normal use.

Q: Can I have it delivered?
In-store pickup at Elevate Automotive. Metro Perth delivery may be available for a fee — contact us to check your area.
