White cavity plugs for unused pin locations in Deutsch DT and DTP connectors. Sized to fit the SZ12, SZ14 and SZ16 pin cavities that make up the DT-series range.

Every unpopulated cavity in a Deutsch connector needs a sealing blank. Without one, the connector loses the IP-rated seal designed into the housing and water, dust or road grime tracks straight through the empty hole to the contacts behind. On a mining vehicle, a canopy loom, a caravan chassis harness or any wet 4WD build, that is where corrosion and intermittent faults start.

Push each blank into the empty cavity from the rear of the connector the same way you would push a pinned contact, then check the internal wedge lock still seats fully. One blank per unused cavity. Colour is a warehouse aid only, the mechanical fit is identical across DT-series suppliers.

  • Preserves the IP seal — fills unused cavities in DT and DTP connectors
  • SZ12 to SZ16 fit — covers the full DT-series pin range
  • White identification — easy to spot during assembly and rework
  • Silicone rubber body — flexible, chemical-resistant seal against water and dust
  • Push-in fit — installs from the rear like a pinned contact

Cavity sealing plugs for Deutsch DT and DTP connector housings
Fits any DT-series connector with SZ12, SZ14 or SZ16 pin cavities
Automotive DC systems, mining, marine, industrial wiring
Non-Deutsch connector families — use the sealing plug specified for that connector

Q: What is a cavity sealing blank?
It is a rubber plug shaped like a contact that fills an unused pin cavity in a sealed connector. Without one in every empty cavity, the connector loses its IP seal and moisture tracks through the empty holes onto the pinned contacts.

Q: Which connectors do these fit?
Deutsch DT and DTP series housings that use SZ12, SZ14 or SZ16 pin cavities. That covers the vast majority of DT connectors used in automotive, mining and 4WD wiring.

Q: How do I know which SZ number my connector uses?
SZ16 is the standard DT pin used with 14 to 20 AWG wire (about 0.5 to 2mm²). SZ12 is the larger DTP pin used with 10 to 14 AWG wire (about 2.5 to 6mm²). SZ14 sits between them and is less common. If in doubt, the pin size is usually printed on the connector body or datasheet.

Q: Does the colour matter?
Mechanically no, all colours seal the same. White, green and grey are common warehouse identifiers so an assembly team can tell blanks apart from pinned contacts at a glance during rework.

Q: How do I install one?
Push the blank into the empty cavity from the rear of the connector, the same direction and depth as a pinned contact. Then reseat the internal wedge lock, that is what holds every contact and every blank in place.

Q: Can I reuse one after pulling it out?
Once, if it is not torn or distorted. Rubber blanks compress slightly when installed, so after two or three cycles they no longer seat tightly enough to keep water out. When in doubt, fit a fresh one.

Q: What happens if I leave a cavity empty?
The connector is no longer sealed. Water, dust and salt find the empty cavity and track through to the pinned contacts behind. On a chassis loom or a canopy connector, that is the start of intermittent faults, corrosion and a connector that eventually has to be cut out and replaced.

Q: Are these genuine Deutsch (TE Connectivity) brand?
No, these are Deutsch-style sealing blanks supplied under the Elevate Automotive range. They match the SZ12 to SZ16 cavity dimensions and seal properly in genuine Deutsch DT and DTP housings, but the parts themselves are not TE-branded. If you need the genuine TE Connectivity part number, get in touch and we can quote it.

Q: What temperature range do they handle?
Silicone rubber blanks are rated well within the DT-series operating range, typically -55°C up to about +125°C. That covers underbonnet, chassis and canopy locations on any Australian vehicle.
