A 60Ah Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) built for the start-stop and micro-cycling duty of modern Idle Stop-Start cars. Delivers 560 cold cranking amps for repeat engine restarts at traffic lights, 100 minutes reserve capacity for powering the dash and infotainment while the engine is off, and recovers charge fast between restarts. Fits mid-size European and Japanese ISS vehicles in the DIN53LH case size: Mazda 2, 3 and CX-3 ISS, Hyundai i30 and Kona ISS, Kia Picanto and Rio ISS, Suzuki Swift ISS, Peugeot 208 and 2008 ISS, and similar.

Enhanced Flooded chemistry sits between standard lead-acid and AGM. 242 by 175 by 190mm case with a standard tapered-post terminal in C polarity (negative at the left, positive at the right when viewing the battery from above). Side and end hold-down slots, flame arrestor venting, carry handles cast into the lid. Factory-filled and maintenance free; the lid stays sealed for the life of the battery.

Only pair this with an EFB-aware or smart alternator (standard on every ISS vehicle). Standard lead-acid chargers may undercharge an EFB. If top-up charging is needed, use a mode that recognises EFB chemistry. Not suitable as a direct replacement for AGM batteries fitted to full micro-hybrid vehicles with regen braking, which require Century ISS Active AGM.

  • EFB chemistry — handles ISS micro-cycling without rapid degradation
  • 560 CCA — strong starting through cold mornings
  • 100 min RC — accessory power with the engine off
  • STD terminal post — direct fit, no adapters needed
  • C polarity, Side/End hold-down — matches factory ISS brackets
  • Sealed maintenance-free — no top-up, flame-arrestor venting
  • Made in Australia — Century Villawood plant, 24-month warranty

Factory-filled and maintenance free. Confirm the vehicle's existing battery is DIN53LH case size (242 × 175 × 190mm), standard tapered-post terminal, and C polarity (negative at the left, positive at the right when viewing from above). Side or end hold-down bracket fits the moulded slots on this case.

After fitting, let the car idle for a few minutes to let the battery management system detect the new battery. On Euro vehicles with battery registration (BMW, VW, Audi, Mercedes), use a scan tool to code the new battery to the vehicle's charge management system so the alternator knows to adapt charge voltage for a fresh battery.

Mazda 2, 3 and CX-3 ISS
Hyundai i30 and Kona ISS
Kia Picanto and Rio ISS
Suzuki Swift ISS
Peugeot 208 and 2008 ISS
Other mid-size ISS petrol vehicles with DIN53LH case (242 × 175 × 190mm, STD terminal, C polarity)
Not for vehicles originally fitted with AGM batteries (use Century ISS Active AGM instead)
Not for full micro-hybrid vehicles with regen braking (require AGM)

Q: What does EFB mean?
Enhanced Flooded Battery. A step up from a standard flooded battery, built for the micro-cycling of Idle Stop-Start cars. The paste holds more tightly to the plates and the separator wicks electrolyte faster, so the battery recovers charge quickly between restarts and resists damage from being partially discharged for long periods.

Q: What's the difference between EFB and AGM?
Both are built for Stop-Start duty but AGM holds the electrolyte in a glass-fibre mat, has better deep-cycle resilience, and suits full micro-hybrids with regenerative braking. EFB uses liquid electrolyte like a conventional battery and suits standard Stop-Start cars where the engine only cuts out at traffic lights. Match whatever the vehicle came with from the factory.

Q: What does CCA mean?
Cold Cranking Amps. The current the battery can deliver for 30 seconds at minus 18°C while staying above 7.2V. 560 CCA is the cold-weather starting current for a mid-size petrol engine.

Q: What does RC mean?
Reserve Capacity, measured in minutes. 100 RC means the battery can supply 25 amps for 100 minutes before dropping below 10.5V. That's roughly how long the car's dash, infotainment and hazards can run on battery alone with the engine off.

Q: Is this an AGM or flooded battery?
Flooded. Specifically EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery). Lead plates sitting in liquid electrolyte, sealed and maintenance-free.

Q: Do I need to use a special charger?
Standard lead-acid chargers may undercharge an EFB. For off-vehicle top-up charging, use a smart charger with an EFB mode or an AGM-safe mode that goes up to 14.6-14.8V absorption. A Ctek MXS 5.0 or Projecta IC3000 are good matches.

Q: Which cars does this fit?
Mid-size petrol ISS cars in the DIN53LH case size: Mazda 2, 3 and CX-3 ISS, Hyundai i30 and Kona ISS, Kia Picanto and Rio ISS, Suzuki Swift ISS, Peugeot 208 and 2008 ISS. Confirm the vehicle takes a DIN53LH case (242 × 175 × 190mm) with STD terminals and C polarity before ordering.

Q: My car came with an AGM battery, can I replace with this EFB?
No. If the factory battery is AGM, replace with AGM. Full micro-hybrid vehicles with regenerative braking (BMW EfficientDynamics, Mercedes ECO Stop, Audi start-stop with recuperation) need AGM. The EFB won't handle the deeper cycling and will fail early. Century ISS Active AGM is the equivalent size for AGM applications.

Q: How long does this battery last?
3-5 years in typical ISS duty, longer in cooler climates and with regular highway driving. Short-trip-only use shortens service life for any ISS battery. The 24-month Century warranty covers manufacturing defects.

Q: Does my car need the new battery registered to the BMS?
Many Euro cars (BMW, VW, Audi, Mercedes) register the battery to the engine management system so the alternator knows the battery's age for charge adaptation. If the vehicle has battery registration, use a scan tool to code the new battery after fitting. Japanese and Korean ISS cars typically don't require registration.
