A dual-purpose starter battery for 4WDs, SUVs and dual-cab utes that need reliable cranking plus semi-cycling for aftermarket accessories. Delivers 650 cold cranking amps, 110 minutes reserve capacity and 65Ah in a standard DIN65L case that drops into most European and modern Japanese 4WD trays.

Built in Century's Villawood, NSW plant with full-frame cast plates, Platelock internal bracing and glass-mat separators that resist vibration damage from off-road use. Standard tapered-post terminals (C polarity, positive on the right) take OEM clamps straight on. The case is sealed maintenance-free with central venting.

Charges direct from the alternator for cranking plus light semi-cycling. For continuous aux loads like multi-day fridge touring, pair with a dedicated deep-cycle battery on a DC-DC charger.

  • 650CCA cranking — turns over diesel 4WDs and dual-cabs in hot or cold starts
  • 110 RC — 110 minutes of 25A reserve to carry fridge, lights, UHF off-engine
  • Dual-purpose plates — cranks like a starter, semi-cycles like a house battery
  • Full-frame cast plates — thicker lead frame survives corrugations and high heat
  • Platelock bracing — reduces plate movement in off-road use
  • Maintenance-free — sealed caps, no top-ups across service life
  • Made in Australia — built at Century's Villawood NSW plant for AU conditions

Electrical

Voltage: 12V

CCA: 650A

Capacity: 65Ah (20hr)

Chemistry

Type: Dual-Purpose Flooded

Technology: Maintenance-Free Lead Acid

Physical

Dimensions: 275 × 175 × 175 mm (L×W×H)

Weight: 17.0kg

Terminal: Standard post, C polarity

Length275mm
Width175mm
Height175mm
Weight17.0kg

Fits a standard DIN65L battery tray. Measure the tray before buying: 275 × 175mm footprint, 175mm tall to the terminal top.

Mount upright. Uses end/side hold-down options; secure the battery firmly so corrugations don't walk it out of the tray.

Confirm polarity before connecting: positive on the right when viewed from the terminal face (C polarity). Clean posts and apply petroleum jelly to resist corrosion.

For aux loads, charge direct from the alternator is fine for semi-cycling use. For dedicated deep-cycling, add a DC-DC and second battery.

4WDs, SUVs and dual-cab utes with DIN65L trays (275 × 175 × 175mm)
European 4WDs and modern Japanese imports with DIN-format cranking fitment
Touring rigs with winches, driving lights, UHF, fridge and other aux loads
Weekend off-road rigs needing dual-purpose cranking plus semi-cycling
Terminal C polarity: positive on the right (polarity view: terminal face)
Deep-cycle house duty — pair with a dedicated deep-cycle for continuous auxiliary draw
Trays with less than 175mm height clearance to the terminal top

Q: What does CCA actually mean?
A: Cold Cranking Amps. The current the battery delivers for 30 seconds at -18°C while holding above 7.2V. 650CCA handles diesel 4WDs with cold-start injector pressure and glow plugs drawing hard.

Q: What does RC actually mean?
A: Reserve Capacity. How many minutes the battery delivers 25A continuous before voltage drops below 10.5V. 110 RC means 110 minutes of 25A reserve — enough to carry a fridge, LED driving lights and UHF off-engine for about 1.5 hours.

Q: What's the difference between dual-purpose and deep cycle?
A: Dual-purpose (this battery) cranks like a starter AND handles light cycling for 4WD aux loads — a compromise battery for one-battery rigs. Deep cycle is designed only for repeated deep discharges and can't crank. For continuous aux loads like multi-day fridge touring, pair this cranking battery with a dedicated deep cycle on a DC-DC.

Q: How does the standard DIN65L HD compare to the taller DIN65LHHDMF?
A: Same 650CCA 110RC 65Ah electricals, but the standard DIN65L is 175mm tall vs the DIN65LHHDMF's 188mm. 2.1kg lighter (17kg vs 19.1kg). The taller DIN65LHHDMF has more plate mass for harder vibration survival but needs more tray clearance. Fits most DIN65L trays as a direct swap.

Q: Does my car need this instead of a standard sedan battery?
A: If you have aftermarket aux loads (winch, driving lights, UHF, fridge) and drive on corrugations, yes. The Overlander's heavier plate stack and Platelock bracing handle vibration and heat cycling that kills a car-grade DIN65 in a season or two of touring.

Q: Will the alternator charge it properly?
A: Yes for cranking and light semi-cycling. Modern alternators hold 13.8-14.4V which charges a flooded dual-purpose to about 80%. For regular deep draws (fridge touring, winching, inverter use), add a DC-DC charger and a dedicated deep cycle so the alternator doesn't cook the Overlander trying to recover depth of discharge.

Q: Is there a reset or BMS pairing needed?
A: No. The DIN65L is a straight physical and electrical swap. No ECU reprogramming, no battery monitor pairing, no reset. Pull the old one, drop this one in, torque the terminals. (Modern stop-start vehicles are the exception — check your car's manual; those typically need an EFB or AGM battery, not this dual-purpose flooded.)

Q: What's the warranty?
A: 30 months against manufacturing defects, from the date of purchase. Covers plate failures, case cracks and premature capacity loss. Damage from under-charging, sulphation, over-rating with winch loads above fuse spec, or installation in a non-rated tray isn't covered.
