Dual-wall heat-shrink tubing that seals crimped joins, spliced wires and cable entry points against moisture and vibration on a 300mm length. Runs an outer polyolefin sleeve and an inner adhesive layer, so heating the tube shrinks it down tight and melts the glue out around the joint in one step. Fits automotive, marine and workshop wiring where a plain insulating sleeve is not enough on its own.

The polyolefin outer shrinks at roughly 3:1 down to a third of its supplied diameter. The inner adhesive flows into the recess between the tube and the wire insulation, then bonds as it cools. Every size ships as a 300mm length in Black or Red so positive and negative runs stay colour-coded along the job.

Heat evenly with a heat gun or gas torch and keep the flame moving so the tube shrinks before the glue scorches. Pick a diameter that slips loosely over the widest part of the joint before heating; a tube that has to be forced on will not seal. Overlap onto the wire insulation on both sides of the joint so the adhesive bonds a continuous barrier.

Size guide

Pick a diameter that slips over the widest part of the joint with some room to spare. Every size below ships as a 300mm length, in Black or Red.

Diameter Price
3mm $1.00
6mm $1.50
10mm $1.90
13mm $2.50
19mm $3.90
25mm $4.50
39mm $6.00

Need a mix of sizes rather than one diameter at a time?

  • Dual-wall build, outer shrink layer plus inner adhesive seal
  • Heat-activated adhesive, melts and bonds around the joint
  • 300mm length, enough for splices, crimps and cable entries
  • Black & Red, matches positive/negative wiring convention
  • Multiple diameters, sized for wire, connectors and small splices
  • Works on 12V & 24V, insulating sleeve, not voltage-rated

Dual-wall adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing for sealing and insulating wire splices, crimps and connectors.

Q: What does "dual wall" heat shrink actually mean?
A: It means the tube has two layers: an outer polyolefin sleeve that shrinks down tight when heated, and an inner layer of adhesive that melts at the same time. Single-wall heat shrink only has the outer layer, so it insulates but doesn't seal out moisture the way dual-wall does.

Q: What does the adhesive lining actually do?
A: As the tube shrinks, the inner adhesive layer melts and flows around the wire, connector or splice underneath it. Once it cools, it forms a bonded seal that keeps moisture and dirt out of the joint - that's the main reason to use dual-wall over ordinary heat shrink on anything exposed to the weather.

Q: How do I pick the right diameter?
A: Choose a tube that slips over the wire, connector or splice with some room to spare before you heat it - it needs to fit loosely over the widest part (like a crimped lug or a finished splice) so it can shrink down around it properly. If you're between two sizes, go with the larger one; a tube that's too tight to fit on won't seal properly.

Q: What tools do I need to install it?
A: A heat gun is the easiest option and gives more even, controllable heat than an open flame. A gas torch also works if you keep it moving and don't linger in one spot - overheating can scorch the tubing or burn off the adhesive before it seals properly.

Q: Is it suitable for marine wiring?
A: Yes. The adhesive lining is designed to seal out moisture once it's properly heat-applied, which is exactly the kind of protection marine wiring connections need. Make sure the joint is fully covered by the tubing and the adhesive has visibly melted and flowed around it before you consider it sealed.

Q: Does it matter if my wiring is 12V or 24V?
A: No. Heat shrink tubing is an insulating sleeve, not a current-carrying part, so it isn't voltage-rated the way cable or fuses are. It works the same regardless of whether the circuit underneath is 12V or 24V.

Q: Why does it come in black and red?
A: Colour-coding wiring makes circuits easier to trace later - red is commonly used for positive/live runs and black for negative/earth, so covering a splice or crimp in the matching colour keeps that convention consistent along the run.

Q: Can I reuse a piece once it's been shrunk?
A: No. Once it's heated, the tube shrinks permanently and the adhesive has melted and set - it can't be loosened or reused on a different wire. If you need to redo a joint, cut the old tubing off and fit a new piece.

Q: Does the tubing need to overlap the existing wire insulation?
A: Yes. For a proper seal, the tubing needs to overlap onto the existing wire insulation on both sides of the joint, not just cover the bare splice or connector itself. That's what lets the adhesive bond to the insulation and keep moisture from tracking in underneath.

Q: What's the difference between this and the heat shrink assortment kit?
A: This listing is for individual 300mm lengths in one diameter and colour at a time, so you pick exactly the size you need. The assortment kit instead gives you a mix of shorter pre-cut pieces across a range of diameters in both colours, which suits jobs where you need a handful of different sizes rather than one long piece of a single size.

Q: Can I cut a 300mm length down to a shorter piece?
A: Yes. Cut it to the length you need with a sharp knife or side cutters before fitting it - there's no downside to trimming it shorter, and it's the easiest way to get several shorter pieces out of one length.
