A compact inline adapter that adds Bluetooth to any IO-Link sensor loop. Sits transparently between the sensor and the IO-Link master, streaming live process values, events and history to a phone or tablet running the free ifm moneo blue app. Fits industrial monitoring, machinery diagnostics, sensor commissioning and short-range wireless telemetry where running a data cable to the sensor is impractical.

Housing is a small M12 inline barrel with connectors on both ends, so it drops into an existing sensor chain without cutting cable. Communication protocol is standard IO-Link, wireless side is Bluetooth Low Energy paired to the ifm moneo blue app on iOS or Android. Onboard history memory records long-term process trends for offline review.

Needs both an IO-Link master and an IO-Link enabled sensor to work — it does not itself convert non-IO-Link sensors. For plain analogue or digital sensors, use an IO-Link master with a dedicated field-bus gateway instead.

  • Inline install — plug into the sensor chain.
  • Transparent — IO-Link master sees the sensor normally.
  • Live data — process values stream to the app.
  • History memory — long-term trends stored on-adapter.
  • Free app — ifm moneo blue on iOS and Android.

Communication

Wired: IO-Link (IEC 61131-9)

Wireless: Bluetooth LE

App: ifm moneo blue

Electrical

Power: Line-powered

Type: Inline transparent

Physical

Connectors: M12 both ends

Requires IO-Link master and IO-Link enabled sensor.
Suits factory-floor monitoring, machinery diagnostics, sensor commissioning, plant maintenance.
Not for vehicle wiring — IO-Link is an industrial sensor protocol, not an automotive bus.

Q: What is IO-Link?
An open industrial point-to-point communication standard (IEC 61131-9) that lets a sensor exchange richer data with its master than a plain 4-20mA analogue signal can. IO-Link runs on standard three-wire M12 sensor cabling.

Q: What does the adapter do?
It passes the IO-Link signal straight through so the master still sees the sensor normally, and at the same time streams a copy of every process value, event and stored history point over Bluetooth to a phone or tablet. Nothing on the IO-Link side changes.

Q: Which app does it work with?
The free ifm moneo blue app on iOS or Android. The app auto-discovers the adapter over Bluetooth once it is powered.

Q: Does it need an IO-Link master?
Yes. The adapter is transparent, meaning it does not itself act as a master. It sits between an IO-Link enabled sensor and an IO-Link master, and the master must be present to power and interrogate the sensor.

Q: Will it work with any IO-Link sensor?
Yes for any sensor built to the IO-Link standard. Not for plain analogue or discrete digital sensors, which need to be replaced with an IO-Link equivalent or read through a different gateway.

Q: How is it powered?
From the same IO-Link line current that feeds the sensor. No separate power supply, no battery. Plug it in and it is live.

Q: What is the Bluetooth range?
Standard Bluetooth Low Energy range — typically a few metres in a machinery cabinet or across a plant aisle. For long-range telemetry look at a proper IO-Link master with an ethernet or field-bus gateway.

Q: Can several adapters run on the same site?
Yes. Each adapter is discovered as its own Bluetooth device in the moneo blue app and can be paired independently.
