A recessed momentary push button that closes a 12V circuit only while it's held pressed. Handles 10A at 12V and 5A at 24V, so it triggers relay coils for winches, spot lights, air horns and starter solenoids, or drives small direct loads like courtesy lights and reset lines. Fits 4WD dash panels, marine helms, control panels and caravan cabinets.

The button sits recessed inside a raised black plastic rim to stop accidental knocks setting things off. The stem is 12mm diameter with a 13/16" 20-thread nut, and it mounts through panels 1.5 to 6.7 mm thick. Rear connections are two silver-contact blade terminals for spring-return operation.

The button is not sealed against water spray, so mount it behind a dash rather than an exposed exterior surface. For any load over 10A, wire the button to trigger a relay rather than switching the load through the button itself.

  • Recessed rim — stops accidental button presses
  • Spring return — snaps back to off when released
  • 10A rating — handles horns, coils, small direct loads
  • Silver contacts — low resistance under repeated pulses
  • Blade terminals — standard spade connections for straight-in wiring
  • 12mm stem — fits a standard 13/16" panel hole

Q: What does momentary mean?
The switch is only ON while you're physically pressing the button. Release your finger and the spring-return internal mechanism snaps it back to OFF. That's how starter buttons, horn buttons and winch-in/winch-out controls work; the current flows only for as long as you hold the button.

Q: What's the difference between momentary and latching?
A latching switch stays in whichever position you leave it (press once for ON, press again for OFF). A momentary switch springs back to OFF as soon as you let go. Use momentary for triggers (starter, horn, compressor pulse) and latching for standing loads (dash lights, fridge, camp light).

Q: What amperage does it handle?
10 amps at 12V, or 5 amps at 24V. Match against the actual load draw at 12V. A horn draws about 6A, a starter solenoid coil about 1 to 2A, a small air-compressor pulse about 8A. If the load draws above 10A, use the button to trigger a relay and let the relay carry the load.

Q: Why is the button recessed?
The raised plastic rim around the button stops your hand, elbow or shifting gear from bumping the switch by accident. Handy when the button triggers something you don't want going off unplanned; a winch solenoid, an air horn, a starter override, a compressor circuit.

Q: What panel thickness will it fit?
1.52 to 6.65 mm, held by a nut on the threaded stem. Works on standard dash plastic, aluminium fascia, marine plywood, fibreglass and painted steel panels.

Q: Is it waterproof?
No. The recessed rim keeps splashes out of the mechanism but there's no IP rating on the body. Mount it behind a dash, in a console, or inside a canopy or cabin; not directly exposed to spray or weather.

Q: What's the mounting thread?
13/16 inch, 20 threads per inch, 12mm nominal stem diameter. Standard imperial pattern that matches most aftermarket push-button switches, so it swaps into an existing hole from a similar-format switch without redrilling.

Q: Can I use it to trigger a relay coil?
Yes, and that's the safest way to run any big load through this switch. A typical automotive relay coil draws 150 to 200 milliamps, well inside the switch's 10A ceiling. The relay then carries the actual load current, so the button never sees more than a couple of hundred milliamps.
