An unlit oval rocker switch that turns a 12V or 24V circuit on and off from a 12mm mounting hole. Runs LED work lights, water pumps, cabin fans, courtesy lighting, camera feeds and fridge circuits off a switched panel. Fits caravan cabinets, 4WD dash panels, boat helms, canopies and marine dashboards.

The face is a low-profile oval that sits flush against the panel; the stem clips through a 12mm hole for tool-free install. Two blade terminals on the rear take push-on spades for straight-in wiring. Body is moulded plastic with no lens or LED, so no dedicated earth wire is needed.

Rate the switch for what's plugged into it. The 30A ceiling covers most light-duty automotive circuits; anything over 30A at 12V (or 15A at 24V) needs a relay triggered by this switch. Fuse the load at the source, not at the outlet.

  • Rating — 30A @ 12V, 15A @ 24V
  • Contacts — SPST single-throw
  • Mount — 12mm panel hole
  • Face — Oval low-profile
  • Wiring — Two blade terminals
  • Housing — Moulded plastic

Q: What does SPST actually mean?
Single Pole, Single Throw. One input and one output, with two positions: on or off. It's the simplest form of switch and covers most single-circuit jobs like turning a light bar, fridge or water pump on and off from the dash.

Q: Which real-world loads can this switch handle?
At 12V it will directly switch anything drawing up to 30A. That covers most LED work lights (2-6A), portable fridges (3-6A running, 8-10A startup), water pumps (5-10A), courtesy and interior lighting (under 1A each), and 12V camera feeds. At 24V the ceiling drops to 15A.

Q: Is this switch illuminated?
No. It's an unlit rocker with no internal LED, so no separate earth wire is needed to power the illumination.

Q: Is it waterproof?
No IP rating is published on this switch, so treat it as splash-resistant at best. Fit it behind the dash, inside a cabin, or on an interior panel rather than in an exposed engine bay or on an open canopy exterior.

Q: What panel thickness does it suit?
The 12mm stem clips into standard automotive switch panels (roughly 1 to 6mm thick). If the panel is thicker, drill a 12mm hole and rely on the retaining collar; if thinner, add a washer behind the face for a firm grip.

Q: Can I use it to switch a winch or starter motor?
No. A winch draws 200 to 500A under load and a starter motor draws hundreds of amps at engagement — both well past the switch's 30A ceiling. Trigger a solenoid or contactor with this switch and let the solenoid carry the actual current.

Q: Does it work on 24V systems?
Yes. At 24V the current rating drops to 15A because contact wear is faster at higher voltages. Anything over 15A on a 24V circuit should run through a relay triggered by this switch.

Q: How do I wire the two blade terminals?
One terminal takes the positive feed from the fuse; the other feeds out to the load. Push-on spade connectors slide straight onto the blades. Fuse the feed side at the source of power (battery, fuse block or accessory tap) rather than at the switch itself.
