A sealed illuminated rocker switch that drives inverter isolators, dual-load circuits and any 12V accessory where a rocker needs to switch two poles at once. Runs an inverter's positive and negative feeds together, isolates a battery bank from two loads with one flip, or splits current across dual heaters, pumps or high-draw accessories. Fits marine helms, mining cabs, armoured vehicles, canopies and 4WD switch panels that use the Carling C-Series 37 × 21mm cutout.

The red LED actuator sits above a black nylon rocker face with a wide bezel that clips into the panel without screws. Six blade terminals on the rear give the DPST wiring plus two dedicated lamp terminals for independent illumination. Silver contacts carry 20A at 12V continuously. Sealed to IP67 against direct spray, dust ingress and short-term immersion.

The 20A ceiling is per-pole, not combined. For a switched inverter feed above 20A, drive the load through a solenoid or heavy-duty contactor and use the switch to trigger the coil. Fuse each pole at the source, not at the switch, so a downstream fault opens the fuse before the contacts.

  • Illuminated red LED — independent lamp terminals for wiring choice
  • Sealed IP67 — dust-tight and immersion-rated to 1m
  • DPST 20A — switches two poles per throw at 12V
  • Silver contacts — low resistance under repeated load
  • Snap-in mount — no screws for a 37 × 21mm cutout
  • Blade terminals — six spades for straight-in wiring

Sealed illuminated rocker switch for 12V dash and helm panels
Suits 4WDs, marine helms, mining cabs, armoured vehicles and canopies with Carling-format 37 × 21mm cutouts
Rated to 20A per pole at 12V DC, DPST, IP67 sealed
Not for loads above 20A per pole — use a solenoid or contactor triggered by this switch
Not rated for 24V continuous — derate current or use a 24V-specific variant

Q: What does DPST mean and how is it different from SPST?
DPST is Double Pole Single Throw, two separate circuits switched by one lever. SPST is one circuit. DPST lets one rocker switch two live wires at once, which matters for an inverter (positive and negative isolator on a single flip), a two-battery isolator, or any dual-heater load.

Q: What loads can I actually run through this at 20A?
The 20A ceiling is per pole at 12V. That handles two 240W inverter feeds each, a 200W bilge pump on one pole and a switched 12V accessory on the other, dual cabin heaters up to 240W each, or any pair of accessories drawing under 20A per side. For loads above 20A per pole, trigger a solenoid or contactor.

Q: What is IP67 and can I mount this outside?
IP67 means fully sealed against dust and rated for 30-minute immersion at 1 metre depth. Safe for open dashboards, engine bays, marine helms and exposed switch panels. Not for continuous submersion or high-pressure washdown.

Q: Why is the illumination independent of the switch position?
The red LED has its own two lamp terminals separate from the switching contacts. Wire the LED to ignition to show the switch location in the dark whether the load is on or off, or wire it to the switched side so the LED lights only when the load is running. Wiring choice is yours.

Q: What panel thickness will it fit?
2.35mm to 4.73mm panels. That covers most steel dashboards, moulded plastic panels, marine helm mouldings and 4WD centre consoles. Won't seat properly on very thin sheet metal below 2.35mm or on thick panels over 4.73mm without a spacer.

Q: Can I use this to switch a winch or starter motor?
No. Winches draw 200 to 500 amps under load and starters draw hundreds of amps momentarily; both would arc-weld or destroy the 20A contacts in one throw. For a winch, use a dedicated winch solenoid triggered by a momentary switch. For a starter, use the vehicle's factory starter relay.

Q: Can I run 24V through it?
Carling rates the R404-12R at 12V DC. For 24V systems, derate the current to around 10A per pole and use a supplementary fuse. If the panel is a permanent 24V install, look for the Carling 24V-rated variant to avoid contact wear over cycles.

Q: What's the cutout size and how does it seat?
The panel cutout is 21.08mm wide by 36.83mm tall. Push the switch in face-first and the wide bezel clips engage against the rear of the panel. Snap-in mount means no screws, no adhesive, no separate hardware, just the switch and the panel hole.
