A momentary push button that closes the circuit only while the button is held, then springs back open when released. Wires a horn, an air compressor trigger, an aftermarket starter, a relay-driven winch or a water pump prime. Fits any 12mm panel hole, from dash blanks and switch panels to custom bracketry in a 4WD, ute, boat or caravan.

The 12mm mounting stem clips through the panel with a locking ring at the back. Two blade terminals take standard 6.3mm female spade connectors. Contacts are silver alloy inside a black plastic body, and the mechanism is rated to 10 amps at 12 volts or 5 amps at 24 volts.

Anything above 10A goes through a relay. The switch drives the coil and the relay carries the load. Winches, larger air compressors and driving lights all fall in that category. Keep the switch in a dry cabin location, as the body is not sealed against water spray or dust.

  • Momentary action — closes while held, springs back on release
  • 10A @ 12V — 5A rating at 24V DC
  • 12mm panel mount — standard aftermarket cutout size
  • Silver alloy contacts — pit-resistant across many cycles
  • Blade terminals — 6.3mm female spade fit
  • SPST switching — single circuit on when pressed
  • Compact body — sits low behind the panel

Function: Momentary

Poles: SPST-NO

Physical

Mount: 12mm hole

Terminals: 2× 6.3mm blade

12mm panel-mount push button for any 12V or 24V circuit up to the switch's rated current.
12V DC systems (10A max direct)
24V DC systems (5A max direct)
Loads above the rating without a relay — the switch burns out on winches, high-current compressors and direct-fed driving-light bars
Sealed engine-bay or splash-zone install — body is not water-rated

Q: What does momentary mean?
The switch is on only while you press it. Let go and it springs back to off. The opposite of latching, where a single press keeps the circuit closed until you press again.

Q: What does SPST mean?
Single-pole, single-throw. One input, one output, one function. Press to close the circuit, release to open. Simpler than SPDT, which switches between two circuits.

Q: Can I use it to drive a winch or a big compressor directly?
No. The switch is rated to 10A at 12V. Winches draw 200 to 500A under load, and a large two-cylinder compressor pulls 30 to 60A. Wire the switch to a relay coil instead, and the relay carries the load current.

Q: What does 10A at 12V actually run?
A horn, a small work light, a solenoid coil, an air-line purge valve, a starter-solenoid trigger, a fridge-compressor kick-in circuit. Anything that draws under 10A while you are holding the button.

Q: What size hole do I drill?
12mm. Any dash blank or aftermarket switch panel with a 12mm cutout takes it directly. The stem clips through the panel with a locking ring on the back.

Q: Do the two terminals have polarity?
No. The two blade terminals are the switch contacts. Supply on one, load on the other, wire either way round.

Q: What size spade fitting do the terminals take?
6.3mm insulated female spade connectors. The same size as most aftermarket 12V switches, relays and fuse holders.

Q: Is it waterproof for engine bay or splash zone use?
No. The body is not sealed against water or dust. Install it inside the cabin, in a glove-box lid, or behind a dash panel. For engine bay or exposed use, a sealed IP67 push button is the right choice.

Q: What is the difference between a momentary switch and a latching switch?
Momentary is on while you press and off when you let go. Good for horns, compressor triggers, relay coils. Latching stays on after one press until you press again. Good for driving lights, fridges, permanent circuits.

Q: Can I use this as a starter button?
Yes. Wire the switch between an ignition-on feed and the starter solenoid's S terminal. Ignition still needs to be at ACC or RUN. The button just triggers the solenoid.

Q: Does the switch stay on if I keep pressing it?
Yes, but as soon as you let go it opens. Momentary means the contact is only closed while your finger is on the button.
