A 50A multivolt DC-DC charger that steps a 12V or 24V alternator up or down to charge a 12V or 24V house bank at up to 1400W. Fits caravans, 4WD canopies, boats and motorhomes running a smart Euro 5 or Euro 6 alternator that needs the input current limited, and dual-battery setups where the starter and house banks sit at different voltages. Full output runs through to 40°C ambient with no fans, cooling through an aluminium circuit board.

The unit measures 138 by 124 by 53mm and weighs 520g. Screw terminals accept cable up to 21.2mm² (4 AWG) for the heavy input and output runs. Bluetooth sits inside the case for VictronConnect setup, and a VE.Direct port on the side slots the charger into the wider Victron system (Cerbo GX, GlobalLink, VRM) for monitoring and DVCC. The IP65 case closes the unit against dust and rain for underbonnet, canopy and bilge installs.

Set the input current limit to match the alternator and the engine-shutdown lockout to match the vehicle's running voltage, both from the app, before the first charge. Fuse the input within 300mm of the starter battery at 60A for a 50A output; fuse the output within 300mm of the house battery at 60A. Output derates above 40°C ambient, and the charger shuts down below the user-set input lockout to protect the starter battery.

Mount in a ventilated bay with at least 100mm clearance above the heat-sink. The IP65 case handles underbonnet and canopy environments, but output derates above 40°C ambient, so avoid locations next to a turbo or exhaust where sustained temperatures run higher. Any orientation is fine.

Use 21.2mm² (4 AWG) cable both ends for a 50A output and keep the input run under 2m where possible. Fit a 60A fuse within 300mm of the starter battery positive on the input side, and a 60A fuse within 300mm of the house battery positive on the output side. The screw terminals accept bare wire or crimped lugs up to 4 AWG. The remote on/off terminal uses the Phoenix Contact 2-way plug (sold separately as CE-1754449) — jumper the two pins for always-on, or wire to a BMS low-voltage disconnect or a dash switch.

Pair with VictronConnect over Bluetooth, select the battery chemistry preset (or load a custom profile), set the input current limit to the alternator's safe draw, set the engine-shutdown lockout to the vehicle's running voltage (typically 13.2V for 12V vehicles, 26.4V for 24V), then save. The charger starts automatically on the next engine run.

Q: What does DC-DC charger actually mean?
A 12V (or 24V) feed from the alternator or starter battery goes in; a controlled charge voltage and current for the house battery comes out. Without one, a modern smart alternator won't push enough voltage into the house bank for a full charge.

Q: What does multivolt mean here?
The input accepts 9 to 35V DC, so it runs on 12V or 24V vehicles. The output is adjustable from 10 to 35V, so it charges 12V or 24V house banks. Four combinations in one unit.

Q: What's the real output at 12V versus 24V?
50A either way. Power caps at 1400W, so 24V output at 50A hits the full 1200–1400W; 12V output at 50A delivers ~700W (lower voltage, same current). The datasheet rates 1400W as the peak at 40°C ambient.

Q: Does it work with smart Euro 5 or Euro 6 alternators?
Yes. Built-in engine shutdown detection means the charger only draws power when the alternator is producing it, and it handles the variable voltages intelligent alternators output. Set the engine-shutdown lockout voltage from the app so it matches the vehicle's running range.

Q: What chemistries can I charge?
8 preset profiles for AGM, GEL, lead-acid (flooded, calcium) and LiFePO4, plus a user-defined profile for anything custom. Low-temperature cutoff protects lithium from being charged below 0°C.

Q: What fuses and cable size do I need?

Yes. Unlimited units can be paralleled. Set each unit to the same output voltage and chemistry profile from the app, and the pair will share the load evenly. Confirm the alternator and vehicle wiring can carry the combined input draw first.

Q: Does it have a VE.Direct port?
Yes, on the side. Plug it into a Cerbo GX, GlobalLink 520 or any Victron GX device for VRM cloud monitoring and DVCC (the shunt tells the charger when the battery is full, so charging stops at the right moment).

Q: Is it waterproof?
