The Century EverRide YTX12-BS is a 12V 11Ah AGM motorcycle battery that cranks mid-sports, cruiser and standard bikes at 180 cold-cranking amps in a short-case format. It fits Honda VTR1000 Firestorm and VFR750, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and ZX-9R, Suzuki GSX-R750 (older), Yamaha YZF600R Thundercat, FZ6 and other builds that call for the YTX12-BS case with Terminal Type A clamp posts.

The case measures 150 by 87 by 130mm and weighs 4.18kg. Lead-calcium cast grid plates pack 11Ah into that short-case footprint and cut gassing and self-discharge compared with older antimony plates. AGM VRLA construction seals the acid between glass mats, so there is no spill and the battery mounts up to 30°. Terminal Type A posts sit on the standard motorcycle layout.

Ships dry-charged with a sealed acid pack. Fill, let the battery rest, then heat-seal the lid before first fit, following the Century EverRide user manual. Charge on a dedicated AGM-profile charger (Century's CC6121.2 or CC1206-XLi). A straight automotive charger will boil off the electrolyte and shorten the life.

  • 180 CCA — spins mid-sports and standard bikes
  • Short case — 130mm tall for tight battery boxes
  • AGM VRLA sealed — mounts up to 30°, no spill
  • Lead-calcium grid — low self-discharge, low gassing
  • Dry-charged — ships with sealed acid pack for shelf life
  • Terminal Type A — standard motorcycle clamp posts

Q: What does AGM actually mean?
Absorbed Glass Mat. Fibre-glass mats hold the electrolyte between the plates so nothing sloshes and nothing spills. Sealed, vibration-tolerant, mounts up to 30°.

Q: What does CCA actually mean?
Cold Cranking Amps — the current the battery delivers for 30 seconds at -18°C while holding a usable voltage. 180A clears mid-sports and standard bikes.

Q: What does Ah actually mean?
Amp-hours — the capacity between full charge and flat. 11Ah covers an average sports or standard bike's accessory load for short-case fitments.

Q: Does it ship ready to install?
No — ships dry-charged with a sealed acid pack. Fill the cells with the supplied acid, let it rest about an hour, then heat-seal the lid before fitting. The user manual steps through it. Dry-charged shelf life is longer than factory-activated.

Q: What's the difference between YTX12-BS and YTX14-BS?
Capacity and case height. YTX12-BS is 11Ah in a 130mm-tall short case; YTX14-BS is 12Ah in a 145mm-tall case. Match the dimensions and part number to the bike's existing battery — wrong height can foul the fuel tank or seat.

Q: Why is the case shorter than the YTX14-BS?
Bikes with tight battery boxes under the seat or fuel tank call for the short 130mm case rather than the 145mm tall case. The YTX12-BS trades a little capacity (11Ah vs 12Ah) for a lower overall height.

Q: Can I mount it sideways?
Up to 30°. VRLA sealed, no spill at that angle. Not for inverted install.

Q: What charger does it need?
An AGM-profile charger with a float stage. Century's CC6121.2 or CC1206-XLi are the matched units. A bulk-only automotive charger overcharges and boils off the electrolyte.

Q: How long will it last?
AGM motorcycle batteries typically run 3-5 years. A tender over winter and a monthly top-up charge add years — short rides and long storage shorten life fastest.
