The Century EverRide YTX20L-BS is a 12V 18Ah AGM motorcycle battery that cranks mid-weight cruisers, sport tourers and powersport bikes at 270 cold-cranking amps. It fits large-displacement Honda Shadow and Gold Wing, Kawasaki Vulcan, Yamaha Royal Star and other builds that call for the YTX20L-BS case with Terminal Type A clamp posts.

The case measures 175 by 87 by 155mm and weighs 5.93kg. Lead-calcium cast grid plates pack 18Ah into that footprint and cut gassing and self-discharge compared with older antimony plates. AGM VRLA construction seals the acid between glass mats, so there is no spill and the battery mounts up to 30°. Terminal Type A posts sit on the standard motorcycle layout.

Ships dry-charged with a sealed acid pack. Fill, let the battery rest, then heat-seal the lid before first fit, following the Century EverRide user manual. Charge on a dedicated AGM-profile charger (Century's CC6121.2 is the matched unit). A straight automotive charger will boil off the electrolyte and shorten the life.

  • 270 CCA — spins big-displacement V-twins and cruisers
  • AGM VRLA sealed — mounts up to 30°, no spill
  • Lead-calcium grid — low self-discharge, low gassing
  • Dry-charged — ships with sealed acid pack for shelf life
  • Vibration-resistant — passes 7G sustained vibration testing
  • Terminal Type A — standard motorcycle clamp posts

Q: What does AGM actually mean?
Absorbed Glass Mat. Fibre-glass mats hold the electrolyte between the plates so nothing sloshes and nothing spills. Sealed, vibration-tolerant, mounts up to 30°.

Q: What does CCA actually mean?
Cold Cranking Amps — the current the battery delivers for 30 seconds at -18°C while holding a usable voltage. 270A clears big V-twins and 1500-plus cc cruisers without lugging.

Q: What does Ah actually mean?
Amp-hours — the capacity between full charge and flat. 18Ah covers accessory loads like heated grips, extra lights and a touring stereo on long rides.

Q: Does it ship ready to install?
No — ships dry-charged with a sealed acid pack. Fill the cells with the supplied acid, let it rest about an hour, then heat-seal the lid before fitting. The user manual steps through it. Dry-charged shelf life is longer than factory-activated, which is why Century ships larger YTX bikes this way.

Q: What's the difference between YTX20L-BS and the GYZ Heavy Duty range?
Plate construction and target use. YTX uses lead-calcium plates for standard-use cruisers and tourers; GYZ uses cast radial Heavy Duty plates for accessory-laden touring bikes with higher electrical demand. GYZ ships factory activated; YTX ships dry-charged.

Q: Can I mount it sideways?
Up to 30°. VRLA sealed, no spill at that angle. Not for inverted or beyond-30° install — use the GYZ Heavy Duty range for those.

Q: What charger does it need?
An AGM-profile charger with a float stage. Century's CC6121.2 is the matched unit. A bulk-only automotive charger overcharges and boils off the electrolyte, cutting life short.

Q: Which bikes take a YTX20L-BS?
Honda Shadow VT1100 and Gold Wing GL1500, Kawasaki Vulcan 1500/1700 and Vaquero, Yamaha Royal Star and V-Max 1200, Suzuki Boulevard C90 and Intruder 1500, plus larger ATVs and personal watercraft. Match the case size and Terminal Type A clamp posts to the bike's existing battery.

Q: How long will it last?
AGM motorcycle batteries typically run 3-5 years. A tender over winter and a monthly top-up charge add years — short rides and long storage shorten life fastest.
