The case is 150 by 88 by 110mm with Terminal A SAE posts. Lead calcium cast-grid plates sit between glass-fibre mats that hold the acid in place for upright or on-side mounting. Ships factory-activated and sealed from Century, so it drops into the tray straight out of the box with no acid handling.

Replace by the SKU on the old battery, not by brand. YTZ12S has a different footprint to YTZ14S, YTZ10S or YT12A-BS, and the terminal layout doesn't match if the wrong one goes in. Keep a smart charger on it during long storage, which is what kills AGM scooter batteries faster than regular use.

  • Compact AGM format — 150×88×110mm fits scooter trays
  • 210CCA cold crank — quick starts in mid-size cruisers
  • 11Ah reserve — supports lights, grip heaters and GPS
  • Factory-activated — install straight out of the box
  • VRLA sealed design — multi-angle mounting on scooters
  • Lead calcium plates — handles long garage layups
  • Vibration-resistant — survives rough-road scooter use

Electrical

Voltage: 12V DC

CCA: 210A

Capacity: 11Ah

Build

Chemistry: AGM VRLA

Terminal: Type A SAE

Technology: Lead calcium

Activation: Factory-activated

Length: 150mm

Width: 88mm

Height: 110mm

Weight: 3.81kg

Install:

The YTZ12S ships factory-activated and sealed, so there's no acid handling and no pre-fit charging needed. Drop it into the tray, torque the terminal bolts to 4-5 Nm (overtightening cracks the lead post), and run the OEM hold-down strap.

Charging:

Use a smart charger like the Century CC6121.2 or CC1206-XLi. For storage over 4 weeks, a smart maintainer keeps the cells healthy. A conventional trickle charger left on continuously cooks the AGM cells and shortens service life.

Q: What does CCA actually mean?
Cold cranking amps. It's the current the battery can push for 30 seconds at -18°C without the voltage collapsing. 210CCA is plenty for a 600-750cc cruiser or a mid-size scooter engine on a cold morning.

Q: What does AGM mean?
Absorbed Glass Mat. The sulfuric acid is held in glass-fibre mats between the plates instead of sloshing around as liquid. Spill-proof, sealed, and safe to mount on its side without leaking.

Q: What's VRLA?
Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid. A sealed battery with a one-way pressure valve that vents gas safely during charging. The gas recombines inside the case, so the battery never needs water topping-up.

Q: What does the YTZ12S code mean?
It's a JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) code. Y is powersports, T is sealed maintenance-free, Z is high-performance AGM, 12 is the size class, S is a sealed/factory-activated variant.

Q: What's the difference between YTZ12S and YTZ14S?
YTZ14S is a bigger case (150×87×110mm vs similar footprint but higher CCA) and higher capacity (11.2Ah vs 11Ah with 230CCA vs 210CCA). The two aren't interchangeable; the harness is routed for the specific SKU.

Q: Factory-activated vs dry-charged, what's the difference?
Factory-activated ships filled, charged and sealed. Dry-charged ships empty and needs an acid pack poured in before first use. The YTZ12S is factory-activated, so it installs straight out of the box with no handling.

Q: Can I install it on its side?
Yes. The AGM glass-mat design holds the acid in place at any angle except fully upside down. Check the bike's manual; some scooters require upright mounting for ventilation clearance even though the battery itself handles the tilt fine.

Q: Can I use a higher-CCA replacement?
Yes, more CCA than the OEM spec is always safe. The starter draws what it needs. Going lower on CCA is where problems start; a cold engine won't crank fast enough and the starter solenoid chatters.

Q: How do I keep it healthy during winter storage?
Connect a smart charger like the Century CC6121.2 or CC1206-XLi for the duration. A conventional trickle charger left on constantly cooks the AGM cells; only smart chargers switch between charge and float automatically.

Q: How long should it last?
AGM powersports batteries typically run 3-5 years in regular use. The biggest killer is being left dead flat for weeks; a battery that sits sulphated for a month never fully recovers.
