The REDARC BCDC1220 is a 12V 20A DC-DC battery charger for a 12V auxiliary battery bank. It takes power from your vehicle's alternator using a multi-stage charge profile, with selectable settings for AGM, gel, calcium, standard lead-acid and LiFePO4 lithium banks.

Fully sealed against water, dust and vibration. Fanless for silent operation and long service life in engine-bay heat. Sized to fit under the bonnet of most 4WDs and utes.

Output is 12V. The 9-32V input range means it will run on a 12V or 24V vehicle, but the output is always 12V. For a 24V system, use the Redarc BCDC2420 instead.

Q: Which battery chemistries does it charge?
A: AGM, gel, calcium, standard lead-acid and LiFePO4 lithium. Select the profile at install.

Q: Where does it mount?
A: Under the bonnet. The BCDC1220 is sealed and rated for engine bay temperatures.

Q: What cable size should I run to the start battery?
A: Redarc's install guide specifies 6 B&S from the start battery. In our workshop's experience, that's the right size for most 12V installs — don't go smaller.

Q: Does it work with smart alternators?
A: The plain BCDC1220 uses voltage sensing and is suitable for older, non-variable alternators. For stop-start or variable-voltage alternators, fit the BCDC1220-IGN instead.

Q: How long is the warranty?
A: 2 years, direct from Redarc.
