Important note

The BCDC1250D is designed for larger battery banks over 200Ah. For smaller setups (75–200Ah), REDARC recommends the BCDC1225D. Compatible with all major 12V vehicle types and suitable for harsh Australian conditions.

We accept
For 12V vehicles with a 12V auxiliary battery bank. Ideal for 4WDs, camper trailers, caravans and larger touring builds. Our workshop hardwires an ignition trigger to the charger on smart-alternator vehicles and multi-charger setups (for example a BCDC in the vehicle plus another in the caravan). For a 24V system, use the Redarc BCDC2420 instead.

50A DC-DC + MPPT SOLAR

Dual input — alternator and MPPT solar controller in one in-cabin unit.

GREEN POWER PRIORITY

Solar takes precedence over the alternator when the panels are producing — saves fuel.

LITHIUM AND AGM READY

Six charge profiles cover AGM, gel, calcium, standard lead-acid, LiFePO4 and custom.

HARDWIRED IGNITION TRIGGER

Our workshop hardwires an ignition trigger on smart-alternator vehicles and multi-charger setups so all chargers only run when the vehicle is running.

2 YEAR REDARC WARRANTY

Backed by 2 years direct from Redarc. Repair or replacement in accordance with Redarc's warranty policy.

The REDARC BCDC1250D Classic is the largest in the Classic range — a 12V 50A DC-DC battery charger for a 12V auxiliary battery bank, with a built-in MPPT solar regulator. Charges from your vehicle's alternator, solar panels, or both at once. Green Power Priority uses solar first to reduce alternator load and save fuel.

Six charge profiles cover AGM, gel, calcium, standard lead-acid, LiFePO4 lithium and custom setups. Fanless, in-cabin design.

Smart alternator vehicles and multi-charger setups. Our workshop always hardwires an ignition trigger to the charger on late-model vehicles with stop-start or variable-voltage smart alternators, and on any build with more than one BCDC (for example a charger in the vehicle plus a second charger in the caravan) so all chargers only run when the vehicle is running. Ask us if you're unsure whether your vehicle needs this.

Output is 12V. The 9-32V input range means it will run on a 12V or 24V vehicle, but the output is always 12V. For a 24V system, use the Redarc BCDC2420 instead.

Sized for battery banks around 150Ah to 400Ah. Rated for in-cabin installation only, not engine-bay use.

  • 50A output — the largest in Redarc's BCDC Classic range
  • Dual input — DC-DC and MPPT solar, charging simultaneously
  • Green Power Priority uses solar first when both sources are connected
  • Six charge profiles: AGM, gel, calcium, standard lead-acid, LiFePO4 lithium and custom
  • Ignition trigger hardwired by our workshop on smart-alternator vehicles and multi-charger setups
  • Fully sealed, fanless, silent design

Q: What's the difference between DC-DC and MPPT solar input?
A: This charger has both. The DC-DC side runs from your vehicle alternator when driving. The MPPT solar side pulls from a fixed or portable panel when parked. Green Power Priority runs the solar side first when both are connected.

Q: What chemistries does it support?
A: AGM, gel, calcium, standard lead-acid, LiFePO4 lithium, and a custom profile. Set the profile at install.

Q: Where does it mount?
A: In-cabin — under a seat, in a service body, or in the caravan bulkhead. Not rated for engine bay use.

Q: Does it work with smart alternators?
A: Yes. Our workshop always hardwires an ignition trigger to the charger on smart-alternator vehicles and on any build with more than one BCDC (for example a charger in the vehicle plus a second charger in the caravan), so all chargers only run when the vehicle is running.

Q: What size solar panel can I connect?
A: Up to 25V open-circuit voltage. Panel size in watts depends on your bank size and daily use — we usually pair a 50A charger with around 400W of solar.

Q: What cable size from the start battery?
A: 6 B&S in our workshop's experience covers most 50A installs. Only step up on long cable runs.

Q: How long is the warranty?
A: 2 years, direct from Redarc.
