An AGM battery that cranks the engine and runs house loads off a single case. Starts 4WDs and light commercial vehicles, then supports a fridge, lights or a small inverter without a separate house battery. Fits caravan starting, boat auxiliaries, camper trailer power and dual-battery setups.

The case is reinforced polypropylene with twin terminals in D polarity, so the same battery drops into most 4WD and marine mounts without rotating. 302 by 174 by 200 mm, 220 mm over the terminals, 23.5 kg. The AGM separator design lets it mount at 90 degrees on either side; a flame arrestor on the gassing path makes it maintenance-free and spill-proof.

Semi-cycling, not a dedicated deep-cycle for daily full discharges. Charge it on an AGM profile from the DC-DC or mains charger. Warranty runs 24 months for starting use and 12 months for cycling use in a private vehicle.

Mount on a vibration-resistant tray that supports the 302 by 174 by 200 mm case, with the terminals accessible from the top. 23.5 kg sits well above most dual-battery trays' rating, so check the tray's weight rating before fitting. The flame arrestor keeps the battery sealed, so bonnet or in-vehicle mounting is fine without a vented box; marine or canopy installs still benefit from airflow around the case.

AGM construction lets the battery lie on its long side at 90 degrees without acid leakage, which helps on tight 4WD tray fitouts. Keep terminals clean and torque the posts to the hand-tight range stamped on the top; wing-nut terminals strip easily if over-torqued.

Charge on an AGM profile at 14.4 to 14.8V bulk, 13.6V float. A standard flooded-profile charger will undercharge and shorten the cycle count. Use a DC-DC with an AGM setting on the vehicle feed, and a mains charger with the matching profile for maintenance.

12V dual-purpose AGM, cranks engines and runs house loads
Fits 4WDs, light commercial vehicles, caravans, camper trailers
Suits boat starting, dual-battery setups, under-bonnet installs
Group 27 case with D-polarity twin terminals
Not a dedicated deep-cycle, don't daily-discharge past 50%
Not for 24V-only systems without a converter

Q: What's a dual-purpose AGM battery?
A: One case that handles both engine starting and auxiliary house loads. Dual-purpose batteries have thicker plates than pure-starting batteries so they survive deeper discharges, but not as thick as a dedicated deep-cycle, so they still deliver the high cranking amps a starter motor needs. The 27X MF suits setups where you can't fit a separate house battery.

Q: What does 750 CCA mean?
A: Cold Cranking Amps at -18°C. It's the current the battery can deliver for 30 seconds while staying above 7.2V, which is what a starter motor needs to crank a cold engine. 750 CCA covers most 4WDs and light commercials up to about 4L diesel.

Q: What does Reserve Capacity (175 minutes) mean?
A: How long the battery can supply 25A continuously before dropping to 10.5V. It's the number that matters for running accessories with the engine off: 175 minutes at 25A is enough for a fridge, a few LED lights and a USB charger overnight.

Q: What does 90Ah mean?
A: Amp-hours at the 20-hour discharge rate, 4.5A for 20 hours. In practice, don't plan on using the full 90Ah on an AGM; keep daily discharge to 45Ah (50%) to protect cycle life.

Q: Can I use this as a dedicated deep-cycle battery?
A: Not for daily deep discharges. The 27X MF cycles better than a pure cranking battery, but a true deep-cycle (or a lithium) is the right call if you're running loads to 20% state-of-charge every day. For weekend touring or back-up house loads, dual-purpose is fine.

Q: What polarity is this battery?
A: D polarity, positive terminal on the long-side left when you face the battery with the terminals at the top. Twin terminals (standard post plus threaded wing-nut) give two connection options per post. Check your vehicle's existing cables reach the correct terminals before swapping.

Q: Can I mount it on its side?
A: Yes. The AGM separator holds the electrolyte so the battery can lie on its long side at 90 degrees without leaking. It can't be inverted (upside down).

Q: What charger profile does it need?
A: AGM. Bulk at 14.4 to 14.8V, float at 13.6V. A flooded-lead-acid profile under-charges AGM and takes months off the cycle life. Any DC-DC or mains charger with an AGM setting is fine.

Q: What's covered by the 24-month and 12-month warranty?
A: Manufacturing defects. 24 months applies when the battery is used for starting a vehicle; 12 months applies when it's used for cycling (house loads). Commercial use shortens both terms per Century's warranty statement.

Q: Is this a sealed battery?
A: Yes. The AGM separator traps the electrolyte, and a flame arrestor on the gassing path means no vented box is required for in-vehicle or canopy mounting. Marine and camper installs still benefit from airflow around the case.

Q: Does it fit a standard Group 27 battery tray?
A: Yes, the case is 302 by 174 mm (standard Group 27 footprint). Height over the terminals is 220 mm, check your tray's hold-down clearance before swapping.
