A multi-function crimping pliers that strips wire, crimps insulated and non-insulated terminals, cuts cable and shears small bolts off a 230mm steel body. Runs auxiliary-fuse pigtails, 12V trailer plug tails, Anderson plug flylead ends and spade-terminal relay wiring on one tool. Fits 4WD glovebox kits, caravan tool rolls, boat helm toolboxes and trailer breakdown bags.

The jaws carry three crimp cavities for 1.25mm², 2.0mm² and 5.5mm² terminals (both insulated red/blue/yellow collars and bare non-insulated profiles), a wire-strip blade stepped for 0.75mm² to 5.5mm² cable, side-cutting blades at the nose, and five bolt-shear holes sized M2.6, M3, M3.5, M4 and M5. The body is carbon steel at HRC 48-52 hardness, the finish is electroplated for corrosion resistance, and the handles carry TPR rubber grips.

The crimp dies are sized for small bootlace, R/B/Y insulated terminals and standard non-insulated terminals up to 5.5mm². For bare copper cable lugs above 6mm² the lug-specific crimpers in our range give a cleaner finish; this tool's cavities are not sized for ring lug barrels.

Pairs with

  • Five-function design — strips, crimps, cuts and shears bolts on one tool
  • Three crimp cavities — covers 1.25-5.5mm² terminals in one jaw
  • Stepped strip blade — six wire gauges without changing dies
  • Bolt shear jaws — threads M2.6 through M5 cleanly
  • Carbon steel body — HRC 48-52 hardness holds the edge
  • TPR rubber grips — stays locked through long crimp runs

Multi-function hand tool for terminals, wire and small bolts

Workshop, 4WD, caravan, trailer, boat and marine wiring kits

Q: What does '5-way' mean on this tool?
A: Five separate operations in one hand tool: strip insulation off wire, crimp insulated (R/B/Y) terminals, crimp bare non-insulated terminals, side-cut wire with the nose blades, and shear small bolts cleanly through five sized holes.

Q: Which terminal sizes does the crimping jaw take?
A: Three cavities covering 1.25mm², 2.0mm² and 5.5mm². Each cavity handles both insulated collars (R/B/Y) and bare non-insulated terminals at that size. Match the cavity to the stamped size on the terminal, not the cable gauge.

Q: Can I crimp large copper lugs with this?
A: No. The cavities top out at 5.5mm² which is too small for ring lug barrels. For bare copper lugs 6-16mm² use the ratchet lug crimper in our range; for 6-50mm² use the hex-die lug crimper; for up to 70mm² use the hydraulic lug crimper.

Q: What bolt sizes does the bolt-shear jaw cut?
A: Five sized holes stamped on the jaw: M2.6, M3, M3.5, M4 and M5. Thread the bolt through the matching hole, close the handles and the bolt shears cleanly with the thread intact so you can still start a nut on the cut end.

Q: What wire sizes does the stripper handle?
A: 0.75mm² to 5.5mm² (roughly 18 AWG to 10 AWG) across six stepped notches on the strip blade. The notches are sized to cut the insulation without nicking the copper strands underneath.

Q: Can I use it on aluminium wire or aluminium terminals?
A: No. The cavities and strip notches are sized for copper. Aluminium work-hardens and cracks under a copper-cavity crimp, and the strip notches are too shallow for aluminium's softer insulation.

Q: Is this a ratchet crimper?
A: No, it's plier-force — the crimp depth comes from how hard you squeeze. For ratchet-locked repeat-quality crimps on insulated terminals, pair it with the [pre-insulated-terminal-crimper] in our range; for non-insulated terminals 2.5-16mm² pair with the [non-insulated-terminal-crimper-2-5-16mm].

Q: How do I pick the right cavity?
A: Match the cavity to the terminal size, not the cable size. Each terminal carries a stamped size (1.25, 2.0 or 5.5). Drop the terminal into the matching cavity; the cable size follows from there.

Q: Will the side cutter take hardened wire or spring steel?
A: The nose blades are rated for soft copper and aluminium conductor cable. Hardened wire, piano wire or spring steel chews the cutting edges. Use dedicated side-cutters for those.

Q: Can it crimp Anderson plug pins or Deutsch connector pins?
A: No, those pins need their own tools — Anderson plug contacts use a hex crimp sized to the pin barrel, Deutsch pins use a four-indent crimp. For Deutsch pins use the [deutsch-crimp-tool] in our range.
