A 22mm panel-mount push-button that latches when struck and releases with a twist. Opens a Normally Closed contact to kill power to a machine, winch control circuit, hydraulic pump or compressor, and closes a Normally Open contact at the same time for alarm or indicator wiring. Fits workshop control panels, mining vehicle dash cutouts, trailer-mounted compressor cabinets and marine helm boxes.

The 40mm red mushroom head sits proud of the panel so it can be hit with a palm, elbow or glove. The body is polycarbonate rated IP65 against dust and water spray, and the terminals are screw-clamp for solid or stranded wire. Overall footprint behind the panel is 68 by 68 by 89mm.

The switch wires the stop circuit, not the main load. Route the actual contactor, isolator or safety relay through the NO/NC contacts rather than running winch, inverter or pump current directly through the switch. Rated to 10A at 24V DC or 230V AC; fit a holding relay or safety contactor on anything above 10A.

Pairs with

  • Latching twist release — stays stopped until deliberate reset
  • 40mm mushroom head — hit with palm, elbow or glove
  • 1 NO + 1 NC contacts — kill the load, trigger an alarm
  • IP65 rated — dust and water spray tolerant
  • 22mm panel cutout — fits standard control-panel hole
  • Screw-clamp terminals — accepts solid or stranded wire

22mm panel-mount emergency stop for control circuits
Workshop control panels, mining dash cutouts, marine helms, trailer-mounted compressor cabinets, hydraulic pump controls
Rated to 10A at 24V DC or 230V AC
Not a battery isolator or main power disconnect — this breaks the control signal only

Q: What does 'latching twist release' actually mean?
When you hit the button it pops down and stays there, breaking the circuit. The only way to reset it is to grip the mushroom head and twist a quarter turn — the button then pops back up and the circuit closes. The twist stops someone accidentally resetting an emergency stop by brushing against it.

Q: What's the difference between the NO and NC contacts?
Normally Closed (NC) is wired to the circuit you want to kill — it's closed in normal running, opens when you hit the button. Normally Open (NO) is wired to anything you want to trigger when the stop fires: a buzzer, warning light, dispatch signal. Both contacts change state at the same time.

Q: What size panel hole do I need to cut?
A clean 22mm hole. Standard industrial-switch cutout, same size as pilot lights, selector switches and most push-buttons in a workshop panel, so the holes line up if you're building a full control layout.

Q: Can I use this to disconnect the battery?
No. This switches a control signal, not the main power feed. For a battery disconnect use a battery master switch rated for the actual current draw of your system.

Q: Can I wire my 12V winch directly through this switch?
No. A winch draws 200 to 500A under load; this switch is rated to 10A. Wire the switch into the winch contactor's control coil so hitting the stop drops the contactor; the heavy current never passes through the switch itself.

Q: What voltage and current can it handle?
10A at 24V DC, or 10A at 230V AC. Beyond those limits the contacts will arc and weld shut, defeating the whole point of an emergency stop. Fit a holding relay or safety contactor on any load above 10A.

Q: Is it waterproof?
IP65: dustproof and resistant to low-pressure water spray from any direction. Suits workshop panels, mining cab interiors and marine helm boxes, but not direct underwater immersion or sustained high-pressure wash-down.

Q: What tools do I need to install it?
A 22mm panel punch or step drill for the hole, and a small flat-blade screwdriver for the terminals. The switch body threads through from the front and locks with a ring nut on the back of the panel.

Q: Does it meet machinery safety standards?
It carries the 1 NO + 1 NC contact pattern EN 60947-5-5 calls for e-stop devices. For a safety-rated circuit on regulated machinery, pair it with a safety relay or safety-PLC input that monitors the NC contact for the short-to-ground fault condition the standard requires.

Q: What wire size can the terminals take?
Screw-clamp terminals accept solid or stranded wire up to around 2.5mm², plenty for the signal-level current the switch is rated for. An 18 AWG TXL signal wire is a comfortable fit if you're running the stop circuit alongside the main loom.
