A 25A DC-DC charger that pulls from your vehicle's alternator and from solar at the same time, and sends the right profile to your 12V auxiliary battery. Keeps a fridge, lights, inverter and 12V accessories topped up on 4WDs, caravans, camper trailers, tourers and marine builds.

Bluetooth to the Redarc app runs live state-of-charge, battery profile selection and fault alerts. Six charge profiles cover AGM, gel, calcium, standard lead-acid, Heated Lithium and Standard Lithium. Green Power Priority runs the solar input first so the alternator does less work and the vehicle burns less fuel. 146 by 164 by 44mm chassis, 0.925kg, sealed to IP67/69K for engine bay or in-cabin install.

Output is 12V only. On late-model vehicles with stop-start or variable-voltage smart alternators, and on any build running more than one BCDC, hardwire an ignition trigger so chargers only run when the engine is running. Our workshop fits that trigger as part of the install.

Mount the Alpha25 on a flat surface in the engine bay, under the dash, in a drawer system or on a battery tray. Keep clearance on each side for airflow. Terminals-down is preferred for drainage even with IP67/69K sealing.

Wire the alternator input, the solar input and the auxiliary battery output. Fuse the alternator input at the start battery and the output at the auxiliary battery. Minimum cable size scales with run length to keep voltage drop under 3 percent. See the Redarc install manual for the exact sizing chart.

Smart alternators and multi-charger setups. On late-model vehicles with stop-start or variable-voltage smart alternators, and on any build running more than one BCDC, hardwire an ignition trigger so chargers only run when the engine is running. Q: What does DC-DC charger actually mean?
A: A DC-DC charger takes 12V DC from the vehicle's alternator (or 12-48V from solar) and steps it to the right voltage and current profile for the auxiliary battery. Regulated charging without the losses of just linking the batteries in parallel.

Q: What does MPPT actually mean?
A: Maximum Power Point Tracking. The charger constantly adjusts the solar input voltage so you pull the most watts out of the panel at any time of day. Compared to a PWM controller, MPPT can harvest 20 to 30 percent more energy from the same panel.

Q: What does IP67/69K mean?
A: IP67 is dust-tight and survives 1 metre submersion for 30 minutes. IP69K adds resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets (truck-wash grade). Together they mean the Alpha25 is sealed well enough for engine bay or in-cabin install.

Q: What makes the Alpha different from the Classic?
A: Bluetooth control through the Redarc app, over-the-air firmware updates and dedicated Heated Lithium and Standard Lithium profiles. The Classic BCDC1225D does the same core job (DC-DC + MPPT) without the Bluetooth or app features.

Q: Which battery chemistries does it support?
A: Six profiles. AGM, gel, calcium, standard lead-acid, Heated Lithium and Standard Lithium. Select the matching profile in the Redarc app so charge voltage and absorption times suit your bank.

Q: Can I run alternator and solar at the same time?
A: Yes. Both inputs wire in at once. Green Power Priority runs the solar side first and tops up from the alternator only when solar can't keep up, which saves fuel and alternator wear.

Q: Does it work with smart alternators?
A: Yes. On late-model vehicles with stop-start or variable-voltage smart alternators, and on any build running more than one BCDC, Elevate's workshop hardwires an ignition trigger so chargers only run when the engine is running.

Q: Can I install it in the engine bay?
A: Yes. The IP67/69K rating covers engine bay mounting. In-cabin and under-tray are also fine. Avoid direct exhaust heat and keep clearance for airflow.

Q: What can I see and set from the app?
A: State-of-charge, charge current, input voltage, selected battery profile, fault alerts and over-the-air firmware updates. Bluetooth connects to the Redarc app on iPhone or Android.

Q: What's the warranty?
A: 2 years from Redarc against manufacturing defects when installed per Redarc's instructions. The unit comes back to Redarc for repair or replacement.
