Maxi-format automotive blade fuses in every amperage from 20A through to 100A. Same wedge shape as a standard blade fuse but roughly 30 percent larger overall (about 29mm wide, 8.5mm thick), sitting between the plug-in blade fuse family and the bolt-down MIDI cartridge in current-handling. Colour-coded to the SAE J1888 convention so the rating is legible on the fuse body.

Sold individually so you can top up whichever rating you need rather than buying a full kit for a single blown fuse. For a starter set covering the common ratings in one purchase, see the Maxi assorted kit.

Size guide

Every variant is the same Maxi-format wedge blade fuse (approximately 29mm wide, 8.5mm thick, 34mm tall). Pick the amperage by matching the blown fuse you are replacing, or by sizing to the smallest cable in the circuit you are protecting.

Amperage Colour Typical cable Common uses
20A Yellow 2mm Compressor fridge circuits, single driving-light feed
30A Light green 3mm Fuse-block trunk feeds, air-compressor circuits
40A Amber 4mm Driving-light pairs, aux fuse-block main feed
50A Red 6mm DC-DC charger input, secondary battery isolator
60A Blue 6mm Larger DC-DC charger, mid-size solar controller
70A Brown 8 AWG Aux battery isolator, small inverter (under 800W)
80A Natural (clear) 8 AWG Larger aux fuse-block trunk feed, roof-solar controller
100A Purple 6 AWG EGON DC-Hub input, larger DC-DC + solar combo

Above 100A move to a MIDI or MEGA cartridge, not a Maxi blade. Winches (200 to 500A), large inverters over 1500W and alternator main feeds all need a bolt-down cartridge fuse sized to their draw.

Standard and mini blade sockets, Maxi bodies are larger and will not fit

Q: What does Maxi wedge blade mean?
A larger version of the standard blade fuse. Same wedge shape and two flat terminal blades, but the body is about 30 percent larger overall (roughly 29mm wide, 8.5mm thick, 34mm tall) and the fuse is rated for higher currents. Governed by SAE J1888. Also called Maxi Blade or MaxiBlade.

Q: What is the difference between Maxi and MIDI or MEGA?
Maxi is a plug-in blade fuse, covering 20A to 100A, and drops into any Maxi socket or in-line Maxi holder. MIDI (typically up to 200A) and MEGA (up to about 500A) are bolt-down cartridge fuses used on battery main feeds, alternator leads and DC-DC inputs. Different physical format entirely, so pick by socket type as well as by amperage.

Q: Are Maxi fuses suitable for winches?
No. Winches draw 200 to 500A under load, well above Maxi's 100A ceiling. Winch circuits use an ANL fuse (typically 300 to 500A) or a Class T (300 to 400A), sized to the winch's peak current draw.

Q: Can I run a 2000W inverter through a Maxi fuse?
No. A 2000W inverter draws around 200A at 12V under load, which is above Maxi's 100A ceiling. Size the fuse to the inverter's continuous draw plus surge, which puts you in MIDI or MEGA territory rather than Maxi.

Q: Which amperage do I need?
Match the fuse you are replacing (the rating is printed on top). For a new circuit, size the fuse to the smallest cable in the run so it clears before the cable overheats. About 30A on 3mm, 50A on 6mm, 70 to 80A on 8 AWG, 100A on 6 AWG.

Q: What do the Maxi colours mean?
SAE J1888 colours: yellow 20A, light green 30A, amber 40A, red 50A, blue 60A, brown 70A, natural (clear) 80A, purple 100A. Distinct from the standard-blade colour set, so do not cross-reference the standard chart.

Q: Do these fit the EGON DC-Hub?
Yes. The EGON DC-Hub takes standard Maxi blade fuses on its output positions. Same fuse footprint as any generic Maxi blade holder.

Q: Can I fit a bigger fuse if this one keeps blowing?
No. A repeatedly blown fuse means either the load exceeds the cable rating or there is a short somewhere. A larger fuse hides the fault long enough for the wiring to overheat and start a fire. Diagnose the load, upsize the cable if needed, then match the fuse to the cable.

Q: Will these work in a 240V mains circuit?
No. Maxi blade fuses are rated to 32V DC only, and must never be used on 240V AC. Mains circuits use MCBs, RCBOs or ceramic HRC fuses in a switchboard, installed by a licensed electrician (we're EC17073, Building & Energy WA).

Q: Are they reusable?
No. Once the fusible element inside has cleared a fault, replace with a new fuse of the same rating.
