A 7-pin small round plug with a metal housing that terminates the vehicle wiring loom and plugs into a trailer's matching small round socket. Carries lighting, brakes and earth across all seven pins at 15A per pole at 12V, suitable for trailers, caravans and small utility vehicles. Fits the small round pattern (25mm diameter) used on older AU trailers and compact set-ups.

The housing is die-cast metal with a removable rubber cable boot and screw-down terminals. Internal contacts are brass or nickel-plated brass for low-resistance connection and corrosion resistance. Meets AS2513 for AU trailer wiring, so it's road-legal for towing.

Only mates with 7-pin small round sockets, not 7-pin flat, 7-pin large round, 12-pin flat or 13-pin euro patterns. If the vehicle has a flat socket and the trailer runs small round (or vice versa), use the matching trailer adaptor rather than swapping the plug.

  • Brass terminals — low-resistance conductivity, corrosion resistance
  • Compact 25mm — fits small trailers and tight tow points
  • 15A per pole — covers full trailer lighting and brake draw
  • AS2513 compliant — meets AU trailer wiring standard

Q: What does “small round” actually mean for trailer plugs?
A 25mm diameter round connector, smaller than the “large round” 50mm pattern, with 7 pins arranged in a tight circle. Common on older AU trailers and small utility trailers.

Q: What socket does this plug mate with?
Only 7-pin small round sockets. See the matching socket under Related in our range below.

Q: What does 15A per pole mean?
Each of the 7 pins can carry up to 15 amps at 12V DC. That covers all trailer lighting (brakes, indicators, running lights) and standard earth draw with headroom.

Q: How is this different from 7-pin flat?
Different physical pattern. 7-pin flat is a rectangular connector; 7-pin small round is a 25mm round connector. They do not mate without an adaptor.

Q: How is this different from 7-pin large round?
Both are round but different diameters (small = 25mm, large = 50mm) and different pin spacing. They do not mate with each other.

Q: Does this comply with Australian trailer wiring standards?
Yes. It meets AS2513 for AU trailer wiring, which is the standard for road-legal towing connectors.

Q: What is the plug made of?
Die-cast metal housing with brass or nickel-plated brass internal contacts and a removable rubber cable boot at the rear.

Q: Can I use this on a boat trailer?
It will work, but a metal body corrodes faster in salt-water environments than a sealed plastic version. For regular salt-water launching, consider a sealed plastic small round plug and apply dielectric grease to the pins.

Q: What is the standard pin colour code?
Yellow left turn, black reversing, white earth, green right turn, blue service brakes, red stop lamps, brown rear/clearance/side marker. Standard AS2513 colour layout.

Q: What else do I need for a complete small round connection?
The matching socket for the trailer end. We also have [trailer-connector-7-pin-small-round-metal-socket] in our range.
