Bolt-down cartridge holder for a single MIDI/AMI fuse. Two M5 studs, a clear cover to keep terminals free of dust and accidental contact, and side interlocking pins so multiple holders can be chained side-by-side when several MIDI-protected circuits are needed in one place.

Suits any 12V or 24V DC system where MIDI-scale protection is needed on a battery sub-feed, DC-DC charger feed, smaller inverter feed, or a heavy accessory circuit. Any brand of MIDI cartridge fits. Littelfuse, Blue Sea, Cooper Bussmann and commodity MIDI all share the 30mm stud footprint.

Size

60 x 25 x 30mm, 0.05kg. Two M5 studs on 30mm centres to match the standard MIDI footprint.

Fits

Any MIDI/AMI cartridge fuse rated 30A to 80A on this holder. Rated to 32V DC, so covers 12V and 24V systems. For fuses above 80A, step up to a higher-rated MIDI holder or move to MEGA. For 48V systems use a holder rated to 58V DC.

Chainable side-by-side using the built-in interlocking pins
Any brand of MIDI/AMI cartridge (Littelfuse, Blue Sea, Cooper Bussmann, commodity)
48V systems, needs a 58V-rated holder

Primary battery-side on LiFePO4 banks. MIDI can't safely clear a lithium short-circuit; use a Class T holder

Q: What does MIDI actually mean?
MIDI is Littelfuse's cartridge fuse on 30mm stud centres, also called AMI by Cooper Bussmann. Two M5 studs on a plastic base, sized for currents from 30A to 200A depending on the fuse and the holder. Positioned between the standard blade fuse (up to 30A) and the MEGA cartridge (40A to 300A).

Q: What fuses fit this holder?
Any MIDI/AMI cartridge from 30A to 80A on this specific holder. Bigger MIDI fuses (100A, 125A, 150A, 200A) exist but need a higher-rated MIDI holder because of the current the base and studs have to carry. See our MIDI fuse range:
[series-of-midi-fuses]

Q: Are the fuses included?
No, the fuse is sold separately so you can pick the amperage for your circuit.

Q: Can I chain multiple holders together?
Yes. Side interlocking pins let a run of holders sit side-by-side on a single mounting surface, sharing a common bus bar input. Wire once at the input, then wire the output of each fuse to its own circuit.

Q: Should I use one holder per circuit, or the twin holder?
For two circuits sharing a common input, the twin holder is neater and uses less cable. For two circuits with separate inputs, or for more than two circuits, use single holders and chain them. See the twin MIDI holder:
[midi-fuses-fuse-holder-with-cover-twin-holder]

Q: When should I use MIDI vs MEGA?
MIDI covers 30A to 200A on 30mm M5 stud centres (this specific holder to 80A). MEGA covers 40A to 300A on 44mm M8 stud centres and is physically bigger. Pick MIDI for smaller sub-feeds and DC-DC feeds; step to MEGA when the current is higher or when you are on a heavier cable run that needs the larger studs:
[mega-fuses-fuse-holder-with-cover]

Q: What size cable should I use?
Match cable to fuse amperage, not to the holder. Starting guide: 30A/4mm², 40A/6mm², 50A/6mm², 60A/10mm², 80A/16mm². Terminate with tin-plated copper lugs and torque the M5 nuts to the manufacturer's spec.

Q: Can I use this on a LiFePO4 primary battery?
Not recommended. MIDI cannot safely interrupt the short-circuit current of a lithium bank. Use a Class T fuse and holder on the primary battery side of any LiFePO4 install.

Q: Can I use this on 240V AC mains?
No, this is a DC-rated automotive holder. Mains-voltage installation must be done by a licensed electrician under AS/NZS 3000. Elevate is EC17073 licensed (Building & Energy WA) if you need the work done.
