The Manager30 is a 30A battery management system that charges and maintains an auxiliary battery from three inputs at once: alternator (DC-DC), 240V mains and solar. Combines six separate 12V products into one unit: a DC-DC charger, an AC-DC charger, an MPPT solar regulator, a battery isolator, a load disconnect controller and a remote monitor, all driven by the RedVision display. Fits caravans, camper trailers, 4WD canopies, off-grid shacks and marine helms with a single 12V auxiliary battery bank.

The main unit is 445mm long, 186mm wide, 78mm tall and weighs 5.5kg. Ships with the monochrome RedVision display and a 4m RJ45 display cable, so install happens in one go. Charges lead acid, calcium content, AGM, gel, VRLA and LiFePO4 banks using Redarc's Green Power Priority logic, which draws from solar first, 240V mains second, and the DC alternator feed last.

Rated to 30A continuous on the output. That covers one auxiliary bank up to around 300Ah plus small 12V loads, not winches, large inverters or primary engine-start charging. The 40A output fuse (FK40 recommended) is not supplied and fits within 300mm of the auxiliary battery positive. The DC input needs a 50A fuse at the main battery positive.

Mount the main unit in a well-ventilated bay inside the vehicle, trailer or canopy. A rear seat footwell, under-bench cabinet or lockable storage box all work. Keep at least 100mm clearance above the heat-sink top for thermal performance. The unit is not weatherproof, so no exposed under-tray or external mounting.

Wire the DC output with 6mm² (8 B&S) minimum cable up to 2m runs, 10mm² (6 B&S) for 2 to 5m runs. Fit the 40A output fuse (FK40 recommended) within 300mm of the auxiliary battery positive terminal. The 240V AC lead ships pre-fitted; plug into a mains outlet when on shore power. Solar panels connect through the dedicated solar input terminals. Fit a 50A input fuse at the main battery positive on the alternator side.

The RedVision display connects by RJ45 cable (4m supplied). Mount it on a dash panel, caravan wall or canopy where you can see it from the living area. On first boot, set the battery chemistry profile and bank capacity using the display's rotary knob. The system then runs automatically. Redarc's install manual (link below) carries the full wiring diagram and chemistry profile table.

Q: What is a battery management system (BMS)?
A single unit that does the job of several: it charges a battery from different sources, protects it from damage and lets you see what is happening. The Manager30 combines six functions in one box: 30A DC-DC charger from the alternator, 30A AC charger from mains, MPPT solar regulator, battery isolator, load disconnect controller and remote monitor.

Q: What is MPPT solar regulation?
Maximum Power Point Tracking. It constantly adjusts how it pulls current from solar panels so the panels run at their most efficient voltage, extracting up to 30% more usable power than a basic PWM regulator. On the Manager30, MPPT is built in; no separate solar controller needed.

Q: What is Green Power Priority?
Redarc's logic for picking which input to use when more than one is available. Solar first (free), then 240V mains (cheap), then DC from the alternator (uses fuel). The system switches on its own as sources connect and disconnect, no toggles to flip.

Q: Does it charge LiFePO4 lithium batteries?
Yes. The chemistry selector on the RedVision display sets a dedicated LiFePO4 charging profile; the unit limits bulk voltage and switches to float appropriately. Also charges AGM, gel, calcium content, VRLA and standard lead acid banks. Set the chemistry once at install and the Manager30 handles the rest.

Q: What fuses do I need and are any supplied?
50A on the input (DC from alternator) at the main battery positive terminal, and 40A on the output at the auxiliary battery positive terminal. The 40A output fuse is NOT supplied; Redarc's FK40 fuse holder with a 40A MIDI fuse is the standard pair. The 50A input fuse is also not supplied. Both fuses go within 300mm of their respective battery terminal.

Q: What cable gauge do I need?
6mm² (8 B&S) is enough for runs up to 2 metres between the Manager30 and the auxiliary battery. For 2 to 5 metre runs, step up to 10mm² (6 B&S) to minimise voltage drop. The same gauge rule applies on the DC input side between the main battery and the Manager30 input.

Q: Where should I mount it?
Inside the vehicle, trailer or canopy. A rear seat footwell, under-bench or lockable cabinet all work. Needs 100mm clearance above the heat-sink top for airflow. Not weatherproof, so no under-tray or exposed under-canopy mounts. The RedVision display is a separate module, usually dash-panel or caravan-wall mounted on the 4m RJ45 cable supplied.

Q: When should I pick the Manager30 over the Alpha50 or Classic50?
The Alpha50 and Classic50 are DC-DC chargers (plus solar on the Alpha); simpler, cheaper, more output current (50A vs 30A). The Manager30 adds a built-in 240V AC charger, remote display, battery monitor, isolator and load disconnect, giving you the full management stack in one box. Pick the Manager30 if you charge from mains, want remote monitoring on a display, or want one unit instead of five.

Q: Can it run a winch or a large inverter?
No. The Manager30 is a 30A charger, not a high-current distribution block. Winches draw 200 to 500A, large inverters over 150A; those need their own fused feed directly from the main battery, not from the Manager30 output. The 30A output is for charging the auxiliary bank and small 12V loads only.

Q: Will this work on a 24V vehicle?
No. This is the 12V-output variant. For 24V truck or heavy-vehicle systems, Redarc makes a different model. Check your vehicle system voltage before ordering.
