A zinc-plated pressed-steel bracket that holds a small round metal trailer socket at an angle off the drawbar or rear bar. Takes the standard 87mm socket body on a 4-hole fixing pattern. Fits caravans, box trailers, campers and ute canopies with a 7-pin small round metal socket.

The face is 94mm wide by 87mm deep with a 2mm pressed-steel wall. Four pre-drilled holes take M5 or M6 fasteners and the angled profile tilts the socket face down so the plug and lead sit clear of the chassis when connected. The zinc plating keeps surface rust off through rain and road spray.

Pair it with the matching small round metal socket if the trailer still needs one. For a plastic socket body or a flush drawbar mount, the sibling brackets below cover both.

  • Angled profile — tilts socket face down for clear plug access
  • Pressed steel — 2mm wall holds the socket rigid under tow
  • Zinc-plated — rust resistance for exposed drawbar mounting
  • Four pre-drilled holes — bolt straight on with M5 or M6 hardware
  • 87mm cutout — fits standard small round metal socket bodies

Mounting bracket for 7-pin small round metal trailer sockets.
Caravans, box trailers, campers, ute canopies
Small round plastic socket body (use plastic-socket bracket instead)
Large round metal socket (87mm cutout is wrong size)
7-pin flat SAE J560 socket (different form factor)

Q: What's a small round metal trailer socket?
It's the common 7-pin round metal socket used on Australian trailers, caravans and campers. The body is about 87mm across the mounting flange and carries seven brass pins behind a round face. Not to be confused with the 7-pin flat SAE J560 socket or the larger round sockets found on heavy trucks.

Q: What does an angled bracket actually do?
The mounting face is bent to a fixed angle so the socket points downward rather than straight back. That stops the plug and lead sitting horizontal where road debris or the trailer tongue can catch them. The flat version mounts the socket parallel to the drawbar.

Q: What socket size does this bracket fit?
87mm cutout, which is the standard small round metal socket body across every Australian trade brand (Narva, Hella, Britax, Utilux). The bracket does not fit plastic-bodied small round sockets or large round sockets.

Q: Will this fit a plastic small round socket?
No. Plastic small round socket bodies have a different mounting footprint and need the plastic-socket version of this bracket. The sibling card above links to it.

Q: Does this fit large round metal sockets?
No. Large round sockets are a different form factor used on heavier trucks and some older trailers; they need a bracket cut for their larger body size.

Q: How do I install this bracket?
Bolt it to the drawbar, rear bar or trailer chassis using the four pre-drilled holes, then clip the socket body into the central cutout and run the trailer wiring through the back. Fasteners and the socket body are sold separately.

Q: What fasteners do I need?
M5 or M6 bolts suit the pre-drilled holes. Use stainless or zinc-plated hardware so galvanic corrosion between the bracket and the fastener does not take hold on an exposed drawbar.

Q: Why pick an angled bracket over a flat one?
The angled profile points the socket face downward so the plug sits clear of the chassis and sheds water better. The flat version is tidier when the socket mounts flush to a vertical rear bar panel. Pick based on where the socket sits on the vehicle.

Q: Will the finish rust on a drawbar?
The zinc plating handles general rain and road spray. In coastal or marine use the plating will dull over time; a quick coat of cold galv or chassis paint over the mounting bolts extends the finish.

Q: What other trailer brackets do you sell?
The sibling brackets for small round plastic sockets and the flat version of this metal-socket bracket are both in the related range above. For the actual socket body see:
