An Eaton Bussmann HMID single-position bolt-down fuse holder that protects one mid-current DC circuit up to 80A. Takes any brand's AMI / MIDI fuse, so it fits auxiliary battery isolators, secondary distribution feeds, DC-DC input legs, or small inverter supply lines. Suits caravans, camper builds, 4WD auxiliary systems and boat helms where a mid-range circuit needs its own dedicated fuse.

The holder bolts down through its base and accepts wire from 8 AWG through 2 AWG at each stud. Feed and load cables terminate with ring or crimp lugs directly on the stud, without an integrated cover. AMI / MIDI is a shared bolt-down fuse standard, so any brand's MIDI fuse fits.

Size each fuse to the cable it protects, not the load. Undersized cable behind an oversized fuse is a fire risk. Standard AMI / MIDI fuses are rated 32V DC, which covers 12V and 24V DC systems. Not for 48V.

If you need higher-current fusing (up to 300A per position) or a bus-bar layout for multiple circuits, MEGA / AMG holders share the same bolt-down concept at a larger form factor:

  • Bussmann series — Eaton's trusted fuse line
  • Single-fuse layout — one feed, one fused position
  • Stud terminations — direct-crimp lugs bolt down
  • AMI / MIDI standard — any brand's MIDI fuse fits
  • Compact footprint — suits tight under-bonnet spots

Single-position AMI / MIDI fuse holder for 12V and 24V DC systems.

Q: What's an AMI / MIDI fuse?
AMI (Eaton's name) and MIDI are the same bolt-down, stud-mount fuse standard used for mid-current DC circuits, sized between a standard blade fuse and a MEGA / AMG fuse. It's a shared industry form factor, so any brand's MIDI fuse fits a MIDI-rated holder like this one.

Q: What amperage MIDI fuse should I use?
Size the fuse to the circuit it protects, not the holder itself. Eaton's AMI range covers 40A to 80A on this holder. The right amperage depends on the cable size and load downstream. Undersized cable behind an oversized fuse is a fire risk, so size the fuse to protect the cable, not just the load.

Q: Does it come with a fuse?
No. MIDI / AMI fuses are sold separately so you can match the amperage to your circuit.

Q: When should I pick a MIDI over a MEGA holder?
MIDI covers mid-current circuits from around 40A to 80A. MEGA / AMG picks up above that, from around 40A to 500A depending on the fuse. If your load is under 80A, MIDI is smaller and cheaper; anything heavier belongs on MEGA.

Q: What voltage systems does this cover?
Standard AMI / MIDI fuses are rated 32V DC, which covers 12V and 24V DC systems with margin. It's not rated for 48V DC systems, where you'd want a 58V-rated holder and fuse instead.

Q: What wire sizes can I connect?
Eaton lists the HMID as accepting 8 AWG through 2 AWG on each stud, which is roughly 8mm² up to 35mm² automotive cable. Sized to carry the current the fuse allows.

Q: Is there a cover?
The HMID is a non-indicating bolt-down holder without an integrated cover. If you need the terminals shielded from accidental contact, mount it inside an enclosure or beneath a bus-bar cover.

Q: How do I mount it?
It bolts down through the base. Both feed and load cables terminate on the studs with ring or crimp lugs.

Q: Can I mix fuse brands?
Yes. AMI / MIDI is a standardised fuse form factor, so any brand's MIDI fuse fits an AMI-rated holder like this one.
